Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park & Game Drive

Our driver will come to pick you up at your hotel in Dar es Salaam at around 5:30 am for your transfer to Mikumi National Park which will take about 5 to 6 hours. At Morogoro, you will get a hot launch, then do game drives until sunset. You will see a lot of animals like elephants, lions, etc. After the game drive, you will be taken to Camp Bastian for dinner, sleep and preparations for the following day's schedule.
Day 2: Mikumi National Park to Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park) + Boat Safari

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be picked up from your camp and driven to Nyerere National Park. There is a picnic lunch on the way. You will arrive there in the evening to embark on a boat safari. On your boat trip, you’ll spot hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Meals and your overnight will be offered at Africa Safari Camp.

Day 3: Fully Day Game Drive At Selous Game Reserve

After breakfast, from 7:30 am to evening, you will have a full game drive tour at Nyerere National Park, formerly Selous Game Reserve. The journey will start from the Selous, where your professional drivers and guides will take you You will enjoy various tourist attractions like animals, including elephants, zebras, giraffes, antelopes and many more. Also, you will see birds and other landscape scenery with varied topography, including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains. In the afternoon, you will get your packed lunch and some time to rest. Then continue with game drives until the evening, when you will return to Africa Safari Selous for dinner, sleep and preparation for your last day.
Day 4: Bushman Walking Safari & Back To Dar es Salaam

On this day, you will get your morning tea and then do a bushman walking tour in the forest with our bushman accompanied by an armed ranger. After the walking tour, you will return to Africa Safari Camp for breakfast. After that, prepare to drive back to Dar es Salaam and on the way, you will get time to eat lunch.

You need a visa to enter Tanzania.

Proof of yellow fever vaccination may be required to enter Tanzania if arriving from or transiting through a yellow fever-risk country.

What To Bring

If this is your first time in Tanzania or your first time on safari, this packing list below can help to be well-prepared and comfortable during your adventure. If you forget a few things, don’t worry, you can pick up most everyday items in town before you leave.

Travel Documents

Valid passport

Yellow fever vaccination records/ certificate.

Tanzania visa, available at the airport upon arrival, USD $100 payable in cash only for US citizens or USD $50 for residents of UK/European Union and most other countries.

Copy of flight itinerary.

Copy of travel and/or medical evacuation insurance.

Personal medical/dental insurance cards.

Credit card (Visa and MasterCard are most widely accepted).

Remember, it’s not a fashion show out there, so be more practical when choosing your safari wardrobe. Try to stay away from bright colours – khaki and other neutral colours tend to work well. It is probably best if you dress in layers since it can get cold but also very hot.

Others tips

Bring soft luggage such as a duffel bag, hiking pack or sports bag. These are ideal for packing into a safari vehicle. Hard suitcases can often be difficult to fit into the vehicles.

Bring a backpack to carry all your important items, including travel documents, money, camera, medication etc. You should keep this backpack with you at all times.

Keep luxury items such as hair dryers/ straighteners, expensive jewellery, makeup and bulky toiletries to an absolute minimum. If in doubt, leave them out.

If you plan to bring cash, divide it into different areas of your carry-on luggage, wallet and money belt just in case something happens to one of those carry items.

Leave space in your luggage for the all-important souvenirs you will probably buy. There are places where you can send packages home via DHL etc., however, this can sometimes be an expensive option.
