Discover Pëllumbasi Cave, also known as the Black Cave, on a full-day trip from Tirana. Set 650 m above sea level, this remarkable site is considered one of Albania's rarest karst caves and a prehistoric settlement, and it was declared a natural monument in 2002. According to the Museum of Natural Sciences at the University of Florence, skeletons found here belonged to the cave bear (Ursus Speleaus), which lived 400,000 to 10,000 years ago. It is one of only five such caves in all of Europe.

Day 01

Hike to Pëllumbas Cave from Tirana

Start point: Tirana, Albania

Time: 10:00

• Departure from our offices (Rruga Myslym Shyri 7, Tiranë, near Intersport).
• Drive from Tirana to Pëllumbas for nearly 35 minutes.
• Arrival at Pëllumbas village.
• Time to start the hike.
• After 45 minutes of walking, we will arrive at Pëllumbas Cave.
• Time to explore the cave.
• Return to the entrance of the cave, with time to enjoy nature and have a snack or a picnic if you have brought your lunch.
• Time to return to the village.
• Free time for a coffee break or lunch at the local restaurants if you have not brought your lunch.
