This three-day Queen Elizabeth adventure is an ideal way to experience this fantastic park, with the trip starting and ending in Entebbe. Expect a game drive to view wildlife in their natural habitat, with the possibility of seeing four of the Big Five - lions, leopards, buffalos, and elephants - roaming the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. A boat launch on the Kazinga Channel takes 1-2 hours and offers chances to spot different water birds, a considerable hippo population, and crocodiles, among others. Sometimes, even elephants can be seen here enjoying a nice swim.

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Equator

  • After your early morning breakfast, you will embark on a 5-6 hour journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwestern Uganda, with a stop at Kayabwe, where a monument marks the equator crossing. A local water experiment will be conducted to demonstrate that the earth is divided into two halves, the southern and northern spheres.
  • The journey takes you through the beautiful hills and plains of Ankole land, an area known for its long-horned cows, before continuing to the beautiful scenery of Bunyaruguru, where you can enjoy a stunning view of Lake Nkugute, beautifully curved in the shape of the map of Africa.
  • Check in at your lodge in the afternoon and proceed for a fantastic chimp tracking experience at Kyambura Gorge. Later in the evening, retire to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02

Morning Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip

  • After breakfast, we will embark on a game drive in search of wildlife. The Kasenyi plains, known as a mating ground, offer opportunities to encounter animals such as kobs, leopards, buffalos, and waterbucks, to mention but a few. Predators such as lions and hyenas are also attracted to these plains.
  • After a three-hour game drive, you will head back to your lodge to refresh and have lunch, then later proceed to Mweya jetty to catch the 4 pm boat trip along the Kazinga Channel.
  • The boat trip allows you to explore the 4 km-long Kazinga Channel, which links the twin lakes, Edward and George. This channel is renowned for its large numbers of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and buffalos, which can be seen on the banks, sometimes swimming or quenching their thirst.
  • After that, we will do a short game drive along the channel track as we return to your lodge.

Day 03

Return to Entebbe via Fort Portal and Mubende

  • After your cup of coffee, we embark on the journey back to Entebbe via Fort Portal tourism city, with the possibility of stopping for lunch there or proceeding to Mubende town. From there, we will also visit the Nakayima tree and learn about its rich history in accordance with Buganda people's tradition. Afterwards, we will head straight to Entebbe, marking the end of your three days of Queen Elizabeth Park adventures.
