  • Chitwan is one of the most developed districts in Nepal, situated in the middle region of the country, 160 km from Kathmandu, at an elevation of 125 m. It is filled with jungles, wildlife, flora, and fauna, which make it a popular tourist destination. Chitwan is also known as a medical city with good facilities and services. One can reach it by air, overland, or by rafting down the Trishuli.
  • Chitwan National Park, established in 1973, is the first national park in Nepal and was formerly called Royal Chitwan National Park. In 1984, it was granted the status of a World Heritage Site. It is located in the subtropical inner Terai lowlands in the Chitwan district and covers an area of 932 km. Every year, many people visit Chitwan National Park for jungle safaris, where they can see one-horned rhinoceroses, Royal Bengal Tigers, the world's rarest crocodiles, four species of deer, several species of wild cats, small fishing cats, langur and rhesus monkeys, wild boar, gaur (wild bison), sloth bears, and over 400 species of birds.
