Huangyaguan Great Wall and Dule Temple Day Trip

  • Depart from your Beijing hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and relax during the scenic drive to the Huangyaguan section. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive. Your professional tour guide will explain the Great Wall and related Chinese history and culture on the way, so you can sit back and enjoy the scenery along the journey.
  • Once you arrive at the Huangyaguan Great Wall, your tour guide will lead the way and accompany you during the visit, sharing its history and stories. You will spend 2 hours here absorbing the spectacular views over the mountains. The Huangyaguan Great Wall was initially constructed in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-557), and General Qi Jiguang repaired it during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). This section has a total length of 42 kilometres, with 52 watchtowers and 14 beacon towers. It was restored between 1984 and 1986 and opened to the public in 1987. Twenty watchtowers were restored along a total length of 3 kilometres.
  • Continue to Dule Temple. The temple is of great historical and architectural importance and has been recognized as a World Heritage Site. Asia's oldest surviving timber structure is more than 1,000 years old. Follow your tour guide to explore this exquisite temple.
  • Admire the 23-metre-high Guanyin Pavilion, the tallest existing double-storey building in China. The 16-metre-high Guanyin sculpture is one of the country's largest colourful clay sculptures. The temple's walls are intricately detailed with murals depicting important Buddhist icons. Entering the temple is an overwhelming sensation, with a kaleidoscope of colour and art, as well as a window into learning about Buddhism.
  • Finally, return to Beijing, where your tour finishes with a hotel drop-off.
