Kulen Mountain, Waterfall, and Kompong Phluk

This is another great tour experience besides Angkor. Located about 70 km northeast of Siem Reap town, Kulen Mountain is known as the birthplace of the Khmer Empire, where King Jayavarman VII proclaimed himself the Jakravatin (king of the universe) to free the country from Javanese colonization.

We will pick you up from the hotel at 8:00 am to buy the ticket and continue to the mountain. On the way, you will enjoy the scenery of rural Cambodia and see some of the activities locals do to earn a living. You can experience locals making sugar palm products and weaving buckets from rattan.

At the top of the mountain, you can see the River of a Thousand Lingas carved into the stream bed to sanctify the water, which was used for cleansing the body and for special ceremonies during the coronation of the king. Continue to see the largest reclining Buddha, built in the 16th century by the successor who converted the area from Hinduism to Buddhism.

Enjoy a swim in the large waterfall during the hot midday.

Then take a boat tour of the floating village of Kompong Phluk. Explore the flooded mangrove forest surrounding the area, home to various species, including crab-eating macaques, and around 3,000 inhabitants. We will then take you to a Buddhist monastery built on an artificial island.

After the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel.
