Blue City Highlights of Jodhpur

Stop at: Ghanta Ghar, Nai Sarak, Ghantaghar Market, Jodhpur 342001 India
Ghanta Ghar in Jodhpur stands out for its unusual architectural style. While clock towers are usually designed in the Gothic genre, this one, commissioned by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the second half of the 1890s, quickly took on a distinctly Indian perspective that can still be seen today. Rather than resembling a typical square clock tower, it is an architectural landmark well worth visiting in Jodhpur.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop at: Toorji Ka Jhalra (Toorji's Step Well), Sutharo ka Bas Road Gulab Sagar Makrana Mohalla, Jodhpur 342001 India
Toorji's Step Well was built in the 1740s by Maharaja Abhaya Singh's queen. Submerged for nearly a century, its recent drainage, clean-up, and restoration uncovered more than two hundred feet of hand-carved treasure in Jodhpur's famous rose-red sandstone, including intricate carvings of dancing elephants, medieval lion and cow water-spouts, and niches that once housed deities. A stay in Jodhpur feels incomplete without visiting this wondrous monument.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop at: Sodagaran Mohalla, Jodhpur, Rajasthan 342001, India
This spot offers one of the best views of the city and the clock tower, especially at sunrise, sunset, and during the calm hours of morning and evening.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop at: Ranisar Padamsar Lakes, Jodhpur, India
The adjoining Ranisar and Padamsar Lakes were built more than 500 years ago in the city of Jodhpur. Located behind Mehrangarh Fort near Fateh Pol, these scenic lakes were created to conserve water in this desert region, where water has always been scarce. Their tranquillity is beautifully complemented by the striking presence of majestic Mehrangarh Fort, making the setting a memorable sight. The clear waters have been preserved for centuries, creating a serene atmosphere and an almost perfect reflection of the grand fort on their surface. The two lakes were commissioned by two different queens in the fifteenth century, and Ranisar Lake was built on the orders of Queen Jasmade Hadi, wife of Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop at: Kunj Bihari Temple, Jodhpur, India
Kunj Bihari Temple is located in Jodhpur and reflects the style of the famous Ghanshyamji temple in the city. It is an example of outstanding architecture, with a beautifully designed entrance and temple top that immediately draw attention. The temple is dedicated to Shri Kunj Bihari, or Lord Krishna. At the entrance stands a statue of Meera Bai, the greatest devotee of Lord Krishna. Inside, there is a Garbha Griha, or central hall, and opposite the statue of Meera Bai, you can see the idol of Lord Krishna.
