Discover the Casbah, Seafront, and Landmarks of Algiers

  • The Casbah, "The Citadelle", is where you will walk along narrow cobbled streets and explore complex houses, palaces, and mosques dating back to the Ottoman period.
  • We reach one of the best-preserved Ottoman mosques in the lower Casbah and the first significant building many people see, the 17th-century Ketchaoua Mosque.
  • We make our way downtown, just off the main road of Martyr's Square, where you can see a large modern mosque in vivid yellow and an ex-colonial church.
  • We head past the Mosque of the Fishermen and walk along the seafront facing the sea. It instantly reminds you of the port of Marseille, with colourful small vessels and a set of beautiful European buildings.
  • We continue to the downtown of Algiers, passing grand French colonial whitewashed buildings and exploring different town districts.
  • We walk past the colossal Grand Poste office, a fine example of French-designed, early 20th-century Moorish architecture.
  • Then we visit the botanical garden, one of the most extensive old gardens in Algiers, with a fantastic view.
  • We end our tour at the Monument of the Martyr and Riad Al Fath.
