Know before you go

  • Timing and assembling for the palace are flexible; they could change because of traffic during the tour.
  • There could be incredible traffic in Dhaka. Sometimes, you may have to wait a long time without moving on every block of the road.
  • Bengali local food is spicy in nature. Biriyani and Khichuri, made with rice, meat, and special spices, are famous foods of Old Dhaka.
  • Modest clothes are required to visit the mosque. Shorts are not allowed, and women must cover their hair and arms with clothing.
  • Ahsan Manzil and the National Museum are closed on Thursday and open on Friday at 3:00 pm. Lalbagh Fort is closed on Sundays and opens on Mondays at 2:00 pm. Ahsan Manzil and Lalbagh Fort are also closed on government holidays. However, you can still have an outside view of these palaces.
