Day 01
Old City of Jerusalem and Mount Zion
- Your guide will lead you to Jerusalem's best and secret highlight sites.
- The Old City tour starts at Jaffa Gate, the most popular entrance to ancient Jerusalem. From there, you will walk through the Armenian Quarter and go deep into the Armenian Old Church and its culture.
- You will then leave through Zion Gate to visit sites such as the Last Supper Room, King David's Tomb, and Dormition Abbey.
- Afterwards, you will return within the walls and walk through the Jewish Quarter. There, you will stop at the Western Cardo, one of the main streets dating from the 1st century BC until the 7th century AC, as well as Jerusalem's walls from King Salomon's time (925 BC - First Temple time), the Second Temple age, and the Wide Wall dated to 701 BC. You will also learn about Jewish customs and uses and see the Golden Menorah, ready to be settled in the Third Temple whenever it is built.
- You will then step down to the Western Wall, the holiest place for Jewish people, remaining at the base of the Second Temple. It is used to place a wish written on a piece of paper between the huge and ancient stones.
- Next, you will proceed to the Muslim Quarter, the oldest and biggest among the four. You will walk almost to the end of it to begin the Way of the Cross (Via Dolorosa), stopping at each station with the proper explanation of the events of Jesus's last living day.
- You will finish the Way of the Cross at the Holy Sepulchre, located at the heart of the Christian Quarter. There, you will appreciate and visit Golgota/Calvary, the Unction Stone, and the Empty Tomb.
- Before leaving the walls of the Old City, you will walk through the colourful streets of the Arab Market, finishing the tour at Jaffa Gate.
