Cappadocia North Tour and Fairy Chimneys

  • Get picked up from your hotel in the Cappadocia region.
  • On this day, you will see:
    • The Valley of Devrent: Devrent is located on the northern slope of Aktepe, 1 km from Paşabağları (Valley of the Monks) and 5 km from Avanos. The ruins of Devrent are spread over three valleys, which are also home to several fairy chimneys bristling with large stems.
    • Love Valley: This is the best place to see the three-headed fairy chimneys. Paşabağ, the Pasha vineyard, is surrounded by incredible natural rock formations, creating a spectacular scene.
    • Avanos: Avanos has been a centre for terracotta works of art since 3000 BC. The river running through the city gives life to both the territory and the local economy.
    • Uçhisar: Uçhisar is a cave town in the middle of Cappadocia. It takes its name from the massive piece of rock in the town centre, which once served as a castle. This extraordinary rock is the highest peak in the region, with views over Cappadocia and Mount Erciyes (Argeus).
  • After the tour, get transferred to your hotel in Cappadocia.

Day 02

Cappadocia South Tour and Underground City

  • Rose Valley: Rose Valley is located behind the town of Ürgüp, but what makes it so interesting to both visitors and locals are the walking tracks within the valley that link nearby villages and small settlements. Scattered vineyards and gardens can be found throughout the valley, and if you are lucky, you may spot locals still working there who might offer you a taste of their products. The valley also gets the name Red Valley from the layers of differently coloured rock formations that give it a predominantly red colour. It is beautiful to wander through and equally beautiful to capture from a viewpoint, where you can fully appreciate the unusual colours of these rock layers.
  • Cavuşin Village: Cavuşin is a labyrinth of rock houses scattered into the rock formations that make up the town. It is one of the oldest dwellings in Cappadocia, and today you will visit the village to admire the amazing feat of how locals dug into these rocks to create their own homes, some of which date back several centuries. The village is also famous for housing the Church of John the Baptist, which dates back to the 5th century.
  • Underground City: The Christians who populated this area created these amazing underground cities while fleeing persecution in the 14th century. Some underground cities date back even further, and all preserve remarkable moments from the ancient past. Be amazed by the architecture and structure of these dwellings, which include many levels separating house dwellings from schools, cellars, and even animal stables. Your tour guide will walk you through the site and show you how these people lived while trying to flee and hide from persecution.
  • Pigeon Valley: Pigeon Valley is an area of Cappadocia shaped over the years by local farmers. They used pigeon manure as a rich source of fertilizer for their crops and soil, so pigeon houses were carved into the rock faces over the centuries. Stop here to enjoy the view over the valley and the Cappadocia region.
  • Uçhisar Castle Panorama: In the centre of Uçhisar stands one of the largest rock formations in Cappadocia, known as the Castle of Uçhisar. It is the highest point in Cappadocia, offering amazing views over the whole region and even as far as the Erciyes Mountains. It is the perfect spot to enjoy some of the best views over this amazing landscape.
  • Love Valley: When you arrive at Love Valley, you will see why it gets its name. The rock formations here are phallic-like, giving the valley its name. These formations have been shaped over the centuries by the natural erosion of volcanic rock. The valley is one of Cappadocia's most unusual landscapes, with cones, pillars, pinnacles, mushrooms, and the well-known fairy chimneys.
