Tour of Rijeka
- We will start our tour at the oldest point in the city: the Roman ruins. Going through the narrowest street and walking underneath the Clock Tower, we will enter Korzo Street - a pedestrian walkway and explore the sights and sounds of the central fish market.
- Note: If the tour is in the morning, we can stroll through the fish market, which is a popular choice among tourists.
- As we go through the market with the Turkish House, you will discover why the city's nickname is "the city that flows" and learn how many languages our ancestors spoke.
- This tour will also allow you to admire the uniqueness of Rijeka's multiculturalism at the Austrian architecture of Palazzo Modello and the National Theatre.
- We will also understand what the “Dead Canal" is and why it is important for city dwellers.
- We will also see the famous sites of the Leaning Tower, St Vitus Cathedral and the Principia Archaeological Park.
- This interactive walk and talk will end on the Bridge of Croatian Defenders, once a political border along the Dead Canal. Today, it is the spot that keeps the city together.
- After Rijeka, we'll explore Trsat with visits to two of its most renowned sights: the Church of Our Lady of Trsat, which attracts thousands of pilgrims year after year, and the majestic Trsat Castle, which has been standing tall since the 13th century.
- Then, we will go to the oldest fortifications in the Croatian Littoral region, which has been watching over Rijeka since ancient Roman times. Here, you will meet the castle's most famous residents and will surely be surprised to see a famous automobile logo inside this medieval fortress!
- As we explore, the guide will also tell you some interesting historical trivia, such as about the most prominent and famous pilgrim to have come to visit Trsat. We will also explore the connection between Trsat and Nazareth.
