Entoto Hill, National Museum and Merkato
- We begin our tour at Entoto Hill, located 3200 m above sea level. There is now a new park with an observation deck offering panoramic views of Addis Ababa. This was once the capital city of Ethiopia before Menelik II moved it to Addis Ababa, and the king's palace still remains today. On the way down, we stop by the National Museum to see the 3.2 million-year-old bones of our grand ancestor, Lucy, one of the most famous exhibits in the collection. Visitors are also drawn to the rich collection of imperial and church insignia, costumes, and weapons. The oldest exhibits are rock sculptures and inscriptions from the time of Queen Sheba, found near Aksum.
- In the afternoon, we drive to downtown Addis Ababa to see Piazza Arada Giyorgis Church and then continue to the most popular and largest market in Africa - Merkato. We will walk through the market to see the different goods and experience the real life of the people. On the way back to the hotel, we stop by the African Union building and tower office for a photo, and then escort you to your chosen hotel or to the airport.
