Alerce Andino National Park and Chapo Lake
- Visit Alerce Andino National Park, located 40 km east of Puerto Montt on the Carretera Austral.
- Explore the park's more than 20,000 hectares of millennial Alerces forest, a perfect place to experience the rainforest with ease.
- Walk along the Ulmos Trail, a silent path filled with huge adult trees of coigues, mañios, ulmos, lichens, mosses, lianas, and ferns.
- Hike the Alerce Trail, which takes you up a steep and long ladder where you can contemplate a 3,000-year-old specimen of the mythical Alerce tree.
- Optionally, walk the Sargazo Lagoon Trail through the dense forest to the tiny and beautiful Sargazos Lagoon.
- Afterwards, head back to the car and visit Chapo Lake, located between Alerce Andino Park to the south and the National Reserve Llanquihue to the north, surrounded by native forest.
- Admire the result of glacier thaws from 20,000 years ago that flooded the forest and created the lake, offering a glimpse of the importance and height of the old forest there millions of years ago.
- Later, return to Puerto Varas to conclude the tour.
