Petrohué Waterfalls, Osorno Volcano, Lake Todos los Santos and Cochamó

  • About 50 kilometres from Puerto Varas, we will find the area called Saltos de Petrohué. This sector is part of Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, a reserve of native temperate humid Valdivian forest. It will connect you with the elements among dense forests, rivers, and pure waterfalls.
  • After a hike through the forest to enjoy the magnificent Petrohué waterfalls at the foot of Osorno Volcano, we will continue to Lake Todos los Santos. This lake is also known as Lake Esmeralda because of the colour of its waters. It is surrounded by low and medium-altitude forests formed by numerous native trees such as ulmo and tepa, as well as views of Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes and Mount Tronador. These forests evoke the cold steppes and young Canadian forests.
  • Not far from there, we will continue along the road to Osorno Volcano, where we will observe how the vegetation changes as we climb, passing from dense, tall forests to lower vegetation, mosses, and lichens that perfectly colonize this humid environment. In spring, the slopes of the volcano are adorned with all the colours of the rainbow thanks to the flowering of native lupins and other flowers. We will also have the opportunity to listen to the songs of the birds of the area.
  • At the end of the day, after visiting the Petrohué waterfalls, Lake Todos los Santos, and Osorno Volcano, we will head south to the village of Cochamó. From this village on the banks of the Reloncaví estuary, we will do a moderate hike of about 1 hour round trip to reach the panoramic Entre Volcanes viewpoint which, as its name suggests, offers a breathtaking view of the estuary and the Osorno and Yates volcanoes.
  • Finally, after a beautiful day full of visits, we will return to Puerto Varas.
