3-Day Sundarban Adventure from Kolkata
Day 1:
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel, railway station, or airport in Kolkata at your convenience and drive straight to Godhkhali jetty, which is about 125 km away. We will pass through beautiful countryside and rural bazaars, with stopovers at a local tea shop and fishermen's villages. On arrival in Godhkhali, we will transfer you and your luggage to our motorized boat. After that, our local guide-cum-naturalist will brief you about the rest of the day's tour over tea, coffee, or a welcome drink, followed by a stunning two-hour journey through the Hogol, Gomor, Durgaduani, and Gumdi rivers. Alternatively, you can stop over at Gosaba, one of the earliest human settlements of the Sundarbans, to visit the house of Sir Daniel Hamilton, a Scottish banker who initiated India's first co-operative movement here. On arrival, check in at your resort. Enjoy a hot lunch followed by 3 hours of birding and a game cruise to Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower through canals and creeks. In the evening, return to your jungle resort for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2:
After morning tea and breakfast, we will leave for a full-day game cruise and birding tour to Dobanki Watch Tower, provided the weather conditions are suitable. Your lunch will be served on board. In the evening, return to your jungle resort to experience the local rural theatre (Bonobibi Yatra) or Tusu Dance performed by the villagers. The theatre tells an exciting story about the Forest God and Goddess, Tiger Lord, fishermen, and honey collectors, with many dances and songs. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3:
After morning tea, followed by breakfast, we will leave for a guided village walk in which participants are encouraged to interact closely with the local villagers to encounter their livelihood. Country boat ride optional. In the afternoon, return to your jungle resort for lunch and proceed to Godhkhali. On arrival at Godhkhali, our representative will transfer you back to Kolkata by car.
