Day 01

Fly to Gonder and Explore Its Historic Landmarks

  • Take a short morning flight to Gonder and transfer to your hotel.
  • Explore Gonder's castle and the churches of Debra Berhan Silassie.

Drive to Debark and Trek to Sankaber

  • Drive from Gonder to Debark and complete the entrance procedures.
  • Begin the trek from Machibiny to Sankaber for 3-4 hours.
  • Encounter Gelada Baboon along the hike.

Day 03

Trek from Sankaber to Gich via Kaba Valley

  • Trek eastwards along the northern escarpment.
  • Descend into the Kaba valley and climb up to Gich Abyss.
  • Enjoy views of the abyss and a large waterfall.
  • Arrive at the village of Gich and learn about local farm life.
  • Take a short hike up to Kedadit for sunset views.

Day 04

Trek to Chennek through Giant Lobelia Fields

  • Trek through fields of Giant Lobelia to Imet-Gogo (3926m).
  • Descend into the Jinbahir Rift Valley and explore the volcanic landscape.
  • Follow the escarpment edge and climb to the summit for lunch.
  • Descend to Chennek camp for spectacular views and spot Walia Ibex.

Day 05

Hike via Buwait and Return to Gonder

  • Trek uphill and downhill, passing Mt. Buhawit (4430m).
  • Enjoy views of Ras-Dejen (4543m) and Mt. Buwahit.
  • Return to Chennek camp and drive back to Gonder.

Fly to Lalibela and Visit Its Rock-Hewn Churches

  • Fly to Lalibela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Explore the monolithic rock-hewn churches.

Discover Lalibela's Eastern Churches and Local Culture

  • Visit the eastern group of rock-hewn churches and the Nakutelab church.
