The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

  • Airport pickup and hotel transfer
  • The rest of the day is free at leisure
  • Overnight stay at your hotel in Kathmandu

You will be warmly welcomed at the airport by our office representative and then transferred to your hotel.

Day 02

Trek Preparation and Kathmandu Heritage Sightseeing

  • Hotel breakfast
  • Pickup by our team and transfer to our office for your trek briefing and preparation
  • Afternoon sightseeing in Kathmandu
    • Kathmandu Durbar Square
    • Swayambhunath Monkey Temple
  • Drop-off at your hotel
  • Overnight in Kathmandu

Our staff will give a brief explanation of the program, and you will visit cultural heritage sites, including famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 03

Drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche

Drive for approximately 8 hours to Dhunche, enjoying beautiful views of the Trisuli River and the surrounding forests along the way.

Day 04

Trek from Dhunche to Syabru Village

  • A pleasant walk down to Syabru Village brings us across the Langtang River. The trail then ascends for approximately 2 hours and continues for a further 2 hours to reach Syabru Village.
  • From here, we witness magnificent views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Mt. Kerung in Tibet.

Day 05

Trek from Syabru Village to Lama Hotel

  • The trail descends for approximately 2 hours and then ascends for another hour to reach Bombu Village.
  • Following this, we climb through the Bombu jungle to end our day at Lama Hotel.

Day 06

Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village

  • Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3541m).
  • We trek through rhododendron and pine forest areas for approximately 6 hours until we reach Langtang.

Day 07

Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa

  • Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3700m).
  • After trekking for 3 hours, we arrive at Kyanjin Gompa. From this point, the views of Mt. Ganchempo and Langtang Himal are fantastic.

Day 08

Day Hike to Yala Peak from Kyanjin Gompa

  • Kyanjin Gompa to Yala Peak and back to Kyanjin Gompa. After a 3-hour uphill trek, we reach Yala Peak, from where panoramic views of Langsisa Himal, Bhairab Takura, Dorje Lakpa, Yala, and Lirung Glacier can be seen.
  • If you have two extra days, you can continue up to Langsisa Kharka with camping gear.

Day 09

Return Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Ghoretabela

  • Proceed from Kyanjin Gompa to Ghoretabela. The route is the same as the previous one.

Day 10

Return Trek from Ghoretabela to Syabru Gaun

  • Proceed from Ghoretabela to Syabru Gaun. The route is the same as the previous one.

Day 11

Return Trek from Syabru to Dhunche

  • Proceed from Syabru to Dhunche. The route is the same as the previous one.

Day 12

Drive Back to Kathmandu

  • Today, head back to Kathmandu.

Day 13

Departure from Nepal

  • You are saying goodbye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today.
  • We hope you enjoyed the tour with us and are sure you'll return for another trip somewhere in the Himalayas.
  • Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight, a representative from Touch The Himalayan will transfer you to the airport.
  • On your way home, you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

  • Footwear: An essential item on the Langtang Valley Trek packing list is a good pair of hiking boots. You can walk more easily on the route if you wear comfortable trekking footwear and socks.

    • Trainers or running shoes
  • Headwear inventory:
    • Sunglasses that block UV rays
    • A cosy hat (wool or synthetic)

    • Extra batteries and bulbs for the headlamp
  • Trekking shoes: You will need a good pair of trekking boots because you will be travelling through the rocky terrain of the Langtang region. During the walk, you will be travelling through snow, muddy terrain, riverbanks, and dense woodland.
  • You will therefore need sturdy hiking footwear if you want to keep the walk comfortable. Pack a pair of sturdy, lightweight hiking footwear with decent traction.
  • Individual first aid kits:
    • A small first aid kit for yourself (simple and light)
    • Plasters, first aid supplies, and aspirin (Band-Aids)
    • One package to heal skin blemishes
    • Antacid medications
    • Headache medicine
    • A cold and/or cough remedy
    • Medications to prevent altitude sickness: Diamox or Acetazolamide
    • Antibiotics for the stomach: Ciprofloxacin, etc. Sleeping medicines should not be brought because they are respiratory depressants.
    • Tablets for purifying water
    • One pair of ear plugs
  • Toiletries:
    • Toothbrush
    • Toothpaste
    • A medium-sized towel

    • Antibacterial soap for hands

Know before you go

  • Advice for packing for the Langtang Valley Trek:
    • Purchase a cosy backpack for the hike.
    • Pack according to the trekking season.
    • Always carry enough sanitary items.
    • Bring clothing that dries quickly.
    • Always layer your clothing.
    • Eliminate unnecessary items.
    • Place your trash in a separate plastic bag.
    • Break in your trekking shoes before the journey.
    • A down jacket, sleeping bags, and other trekking supplies can be rented.
  • Autumn (September to November) and spring (March to May) are the ideal times to go on the Langtang Trek.
  • The luggage weight limit is 15 kg.
