Gear up for an adventurous trek through the Annapurna foothills, where outstanding mountain views accompany you on the way to Machhapuchhre and onward through serene local villages. Pass lovely, lush forests en route to Chhomrong and Ghorepani, meet the area's local people, and experience the natural beauty of the region up close. The journey culminates with the splendid sunrise view of snow-clad mountains from Poon Hill and close-up Himalayan panoramas at Annapurna Base Camp.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu

  • You will be warmly welcomed at the airport by our office representative and then transferred to your hotel.

Day 02

Kathmandu Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

  • Enjoy an early morning breakfast.
  • Set out on a half-day cultural tour of Kathmandu's world heritage sites.
  • Receive a brief explanation of the upcoming trek during the afternoon briefing, along with trek gear distribution.
  • Pack all the essential items for the journey.

Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 03

Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara

  • Drive to Pokhara by tourist bus, car, or flight. Pokhara is located about 200 km west of Kathmandu, and the tourist coach takes about 7 hours to get there. The drive mostly follows the Trishuli River, offering enjoyable views of the landscape.
  • In the evening, you may take a short sightseeing walk around Pokhara city and stay overnight.

Day 04

Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Hile

  • Our actual trek begins today. We will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which takes around 2 hours. From there, we will hike to Hile, enjoying gratifying and refreshing views of beautiful villages, hills, and mountains. The trail leads through beautiful rice, maize, and millet farms belonging to local people. Following the main trail from Birethanti, we pass a small waterfall before reaching Sudami, where we will have lunch.
  • After lunch, the hike to Hile takes around 3-4 hours. We will walk along the bank of the Modi River. Upon arrival, we will have dinner and spend the night at a local guesthouse.

Day 05

Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani

  • The trail climbs steeply for 1.5 hours over stone steps and passes through cultivated fields. Altogether, the trek takes about 6 hours. The trail winds through oak and rhododendron forests and leads to Ghorepani, one of the most popular destinations along the Annapurna route. This village in Myagdi District, located at an altitude of 2856 m, is known for offering travellers breathtaking mountain scenery.

Day 06

Sunrise at Poon Hill and Trek to Tadapani

  • Wake up early in the morning and begin the climb to Poon Hill (3210 m), which takes around 1 hour and rewards you with majestic scenery and sunrise views over the high mountains. Many white peaks can be seen from Poon Hill.
  • After sunrise, descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue the trek.
  • After the sunrise view, continue trekking to Tadapani (2630 m), which takes about 5 hours. Stay overnight.

Day 07

Trek from Tadapani to Chhomrong

  • Follow the trail along the Kimrong River to Chomrong (2020 m).
  • Enjoy amazing views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli Peak, as well as the majestic Machapuchare Mountain.

Day 08

Trek from Chomrong to Dovan

  • The journey from Chomrong to Dovan includes both uphill and downhill trails through thick rhododendron forests, with steep stone steps in some sections.

Day 09

Trek to Deurali or Machhapuchhre Base Camp

  • Head for Deurali (3200 m) or Machapuchare Base Camp (3700 m).
  • Hike through rhododendron and bamboo forests.

Day 10

Ascend to Annapurna Base Camp

  • Today is the ascent to the highest point of the trek. Gather all your energy and begin the journey to Annapurna Base Camp. Located at an altitude of 4131 m above sea level, the base camp is the starting point for those aiming to conquer the tenth-highest mountain in the world, which is also among the most dangerous.
  • Be surrounded by the mighty Himalayas and enjoy spectacular views of mountains such as Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Barah Shikhar (7800 m), and Machapuchare.

Day 11

Descend from Base Camp to Bamboo

  • Enjoy your last morning in the high Himalayas before following the trail down to Bamboo. You can take pictures and watch the sunrise over the Himalayas before breakfast.
  • We will follow the same trail to descend to Bamboo, with a lunch stop at Deurali or Himalayan Hotel.

Day 12

Trek to Jhinu Hot Spring

  • The trail from Bamboo to Jhinu follows the same route as earlier until Chhomrong. Hike down to Chhomrong while enjoying lovely views of Annapurna South and other mountains.
  • Descend to Jhinu, where you can enjoy swimming or bathing in a hot spring.

Day 13

Trek to Siwai and Drive to Pokhara

  • Start your day early. Walk downhill and cross the Kimrong River once again. Continue until you reach Siwai, where you will find a bus or jeep to take you to Pokhara. This is one of the easiest days of the whole trek. The trail from Jhinu to Siwai is mostly flat, and we will follow the thundering Modi River throughout. It is a flat walk through rice paddies and green hillsides.
  • Enjoy your last evening in Pokhara before beginning the journey back to Kathmandu the next day.

Day 14

Drive Back to Kathmandu

  • We will follow the same highway through beautiful rivers, hills, and small Nepalese settlements. The drive takes about 7 hours to reach Kathmandu. From the tourist bus park, you will be transferred to your hotel.
