Islamic Cairo Walk through Al-Ashraf Street and El-Khayameya

  • Meet your tour guide in Downtown Cairo and begin walking through the history of Al-Ashraf Street, which dates back to the Mamluk era. The street was named after Sultan Al-Ashraf Khalil bin Al-Mansur Qalawun and includes a large number of shrines and sites connected to Ahl al-Bayt, including the mosque and shrine of Sayyidah Nafisa and the mosque and shrine of Sayyidah Zainab.
  • See the dome and mausoleum of the honourable Sultan Khalil bin al-Malik al-Mansur Qalawun, established in 1388 AD, as well as the shrine of Fatima Khatoun from the Bahri Mamluk era, the shrine of Mrs Ruqayyah, daughter of Imam Ali, and the shrine of Mrs Sakina, daughter of Imam Hussein. The street also includes various monuments, including a shrine attributed to Ibn Sirin, the bath of the famous Sultana Shajarat al-Durr, Ahmed Ibn Talun Mosque, the Gayer-Anderson Museum, Prince Taz Palace, Prince Sheikhoun Mosque, Sabil Umm Abbas, Sultan Hassan Mosque, and Al-Rifai Mosque.
  • Head to Maghreblin Street and the Old Market, where you will discover Egyptian folk life.
  • From there, continue to El-Khayameya to see handicrafts, carpets, the clothing market, and popular Egyptian restaurants.
