The itinerary

Day 01

Horseback Ride to Laguna Cayutué

• Morning drive from Puerto Varas towards the Ralún area, very close to Cochamó. We will join a gravel road accessing Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, where the horses and the baqueano will be waiting for us.
• After a briefing, we will saddle up and begin the ride for 1.5 hours along the trail, ascending gradually as we enter the temperate green forest.
• You will be surrounded by a volcanic field occupying a low-lying area between the southern end of Ensenada Cayutué, the southern extension of Lake Todos los Santos, and the northern end of the Estuario Reloncaví, where the Río Petrohué, which drains Lake Todos los Santos, reaches the sea.
• Upon reaching the lagoon's shore, there will be time to relax while the guide and baqueano prepare a simple but delicious lunch on the grill. The return follows the same trail back.
• Duration: 2.30 hours riding. 90-minute drive from Puerto Varas each way.
• Difficulty level: Easy.
• Terrain: gravel, muddy sections, forest trail, shade and open ground, with shared trails for horses and people.

What to bring

• Equipment to bring: bottle of water. Water is safe to drink from the source.
• Warm clothes according to the weather and time of year.
• Comfortable, not too tight pants suitable for horse riding, trekking shoes, a rain jacket, and sun and skin protection such as sunglasses and a hat.
• A small bag for carrying a camera and personal items.

• Horse riding is considered a high-risk sport. We suggest that you take insurance for this activity. In any case, we will ask you to sign a disclaimer.
• Riding is not recommended for people who suffer from back, neck, or knee problems, or any other condition that could cause an issue. If you decide to ride anyway, please inform us, and you will do so at your own risk.
• The maximum accepted weight is 90 kg / 200 lbs.
• Children are accepted from 10 years old.
