Day 01

Mandalay Monastery and Mingun River Excursion

Visit the Golden Palace Monastery in Mandalay with your Myanmar tour guide.
Proceed to Mingun village to see the world's biggest bell.
Continue to the Mandalay jetty and sail across the Irrawaddy River to Mingun.
Go to the massive unfinished pagoda, built by King Bodawphaya from 1789 to 1819. Attempts were made to complete it, but the pagoda was too huge to finish. Examine the two unfinished lions.
Observe what is believed to be the world's biggest bell ever, weighing 90 tons.
Move to Myatheintan Pagoda, built by the Sagaing king in 1816 AD. When his chief queen passed away, he built this pagoda in remembrance of his wife, like the Taj Mahal in India. This pagoda is a copy of Sulamani Pagoda in Mt. Meru. In Buddhist belief, Mt. Meru is at the center of the universe, surrounded by seven rivers and mountains.
