Description
Embark on this wildlife safari that will take you to the beautiful “Sipi Falls” waterfalls on the foothills of mountain Elgon. Help bring the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors and learn about nomadic life. Visit Mount Morungole (also known as Ikland) in the final northern hills of Karamoja. Discover one of Africa’s most scenic national parks containing one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan park at Kidepo Valley.
Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival and transfer to hotel
- Arrive at Entebbe International Airport; you will meet with the driver/guide. He will brief you about the ten days and nine nights of culture and Wildlife. And then, the driver/guide will transfer you to your hotel, where you will have time to relax while enjoying the cool breeze from the Lake. Later have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Sipi falls and Arabic coffee
- Sipi Falls is located in the Eastern part of Uganda, and northwest of Mount Elgon rise in a series of massive basalt cliffs, often several kilometres in length, over which the mountain’s rivers plunge as beautiful waterfalls with breathtaking views of the Sipi Falls.
- We will venture out to see the waterfalls from up close, experience the warm culture of the Sebei people and witness how one of Uganda’s most delicious coffee is grown.

Day 3: Hiking the three beautiful waterfalls “Sipi Falls”
- After your morning breakfast, you will have your lunch packed for the day, then explore the 3 waterfalls (75m,85m and 100m) hiking up mountain Elgon which takes 4 hours, starting from Budadiri via the sasa trail to the summit and then descending the Sipi trail back to Sipi falls.
- The falls offer to breathe taking views across L.kyoga, Karamoja plains, and the slopes of mountain Elgon. Expect to see different bird species like the tacazze, sunbirds, hornbill birds and many more while hiking.

Day 4: Transfer to Moroto, life in the Karamojong village
- After breakfast, embark on a journey to Moroto, the town on the slopes of the massive volcanic mountain Moroto and the surrounding savannah planes, which holds a range of things to do in Moroto for everybody, like hiking, cultural experiences, bicycle tours and archaeological tours.
- You will immerse yourself in Karamojong culture, participating in traditional games and daily activities such as preparing staple foods, harvesting, beading, learning, dancing, how to shoot bow and arrow and traditional friendly wrestling.
- You will experience typical Karamojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and shepherds in the Kraal. Help bring the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors and learn about nomadic life.

Day 5: Transfer to Kidepo valley
- After having breakfast at 9: 00 am, embark on a 3 – 4 hours journey to Kidepo Valley National Park while sighting breathtaking sceneries and beautiful landscapes captivating the beauty of the wildness that spreads beyond the valleys. On arrival, check in to the hotel, have lunch and relax for the rest of the day preparing for tomorrow’s activities.

Day 6: Climbing mountain Morungole to visit the IK tribe
- After having a heavy morning breakfast, undertake a journey to mountain Morungole for the IK tribe. For the village tour experience, you will immerse yourself in IK tribe culture to engage in traditional games, daily activities, learning, and dancing.
- The Ik people, who speak the Teuso language, live in the Morungole Mountains of Uganda, on the northwestern border of Kenya, in Kidepo Valley National Park. Also called the Mountain people, the Ik number fewer than 10,000 individuals today and primarily practice subsistence farming.
- The Ik were among the first people to travel to Uganda from Ethiopia and thus earned the name “Ik,” which means “leaders of migration.” Because of their common origins, they share many characteristics with the Karamojong people. History has it that they were also originally cattle herders. Still, after losing their livestock to raiders from the neighbouring tribes, such as the Tuposa of South Sudan, the Karamojong, and Turkana and Pokot of Kenya, they moved on to goat keeping, honey harvesting, and subsistence maize farming for a livelihood.

Day 7: Game drives in the mornings and afternoons to look for wildlife including four of the Big Five animals of Africa
- After an early morning breakfast, undertake a rewarding game drives that you will cherish in your memories long after you will be able to discover one of Africa’s most scenic national park containing one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of animals, several of which are only found in the Kidepo Valley like; cheetahs, striped hyenas, caracal, lions, elephants, leopards, warthogs, ostriches, buffaloes, giraffes and over 465 birds species like; Abyssinian Crimson wing, Abyssinian roller, African Grey, African Hill – babbler, Black–breasted Barbet, Brown warbler, Brown woodland – warbler. Kidepo valley captivates with its sprawling savannah grassland, dotted with rocky crags, sausage trees and acacia trees. The park is a photographer’s paradise displaying a kaleidoscope of colors that are truly spectacular to see.

Day 8: Transfer to Gulu for Acholi cultural
- After breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Gulu for an Acholi cultural tour. The Acholi people, also known as Acholi, are an ethnic group from the districts of Agago, Amuru, and Gulu; you will experience the Larakaraka. The Larakaraka is an Acholi courtship dance that allows young men to demonstrate their dancing prowess and physical vigour to secure a marriage partner. You will sight breathtaking sceneries and fascinating views of the surrounding landscape.

Day 9: Transfer back to Kampala
- After your morning breakfast, embark on a 5 hours journey back to Kampala; on your way, you will have the stunningly beautiful breathtaking Scenery of Gulu city outskirts and be ready for the African road massage.

Day 10: Departure
- After having breakfast and checking out from your hotel; our guide will be waiting to transfer you to Entebbe airport to catch your flight back home; with all the unforgettable memories and experiences from your adventurous cultural safari, you will say your last goodbyes to the pearl of Africa.
