Full-Day Journey to UNESCO-listed Berat
- Meet your tour guide at the meeting point and depart for your day tour at 09:00. Enjoy a coffee break on the way.
- Arrive in Berat, the "city of one-over-one windows", a UNESCO-listed destination and one of the oldest cities in Europe.
- Visit Berat Castle, which dates back to the 4th century BC. There, you will enjoy a wonderful view of the city. The castle is built on a rocky hill on the left bank of the Osum River and is accessible only from the south. The centre of the castle quarter is rich in many Byzantine churches, most of them unique for their wall paintings, icons, and the values they hold.
- Visit the Cathedral of Shën Mëria, which houses a museum of works by the famous 16th-century iconographers Onufri and his son Nikola. There are over 100 icons on display, including works by other artists such as Joan Çetiri, Onufër Qiprioti, and many anonymous painters.
- Enjoy a tour of the mosques and get free time for lunch.
- Explore the old neighbourhoods of Gorica and Mangalem, linked by the Gorica Bridge, a seven-arched stone landmark with a design similar to the Ottoman bridge in Visegrad. Çobo winery degustation is optional.
- Return to Tirana.
