This 7-day tour combines two of the most important protected areas in Ecuador's eastern Amazon Basin along the Peruvian border: Cuyabeno and Yasuní. Discover the extraordinary biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest, including mammals, amphibians, and insects, in the vast lake system known as the last sanctuary of the Amazon pink dolphins in Ecuador, while also encountering the indigenous cultures of the Aguarico and Napo rivers. Travel by river to lodges and campsites, visit oxbow lakes, walk through the immense jungle, and experience one of Ecuador's most pristine wetland and rainforest regions.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Coca and Transfer to Cuyabeno

  • 9:30 - Transfer by car from Coca Airport to Tierras Orientales Aguarico River port.
  • 11:00 - Arrival at Aguarico River port.
  • 11:15 - Transfer to Cuyabeno National Park and your lodge.
  • 13:00 - Box lunch by the riverside along the Aguarico River.
  • 15:00 - Arrival at the lodge. The staff will welcome you with refreshing cold drinks before you begin your adventure exploring the biodiverse Amazon rainforest.
  • 16:30 - In the late afternoon, take a short walk on the nearby trails around the lodge, surrounded by wildlife in its natural habitat.
  • 19:00 - Dinner, where the chef will offer a wide variety of national and international cuisine fused with local techniques and organic ingredients, catering to meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans.
  • Afterwards, your guide will give a briefing and details about the next day's activities in the Amazon rainforest while you enjoy drinks and jungle cocktails. Have a good night.

Day 02

River Exploration and Camping in the Amazon

  • 6:00 - Breakfast.
  • 6:30 - River exploration for dolphins and wildlife.
  • 11:30 - Arrival at the camping area along the riverside.
  • 12:30 - Campsite setup and facilities.
  • 13:00 - Lunch at the camping site, with refreshing cold drinks, before you continue your adventure.
  • 16:30 - Late afternoon activity: enjoy a short walk on the nearby trails or a canoe ride around the lodge, surrounded by a complex of lakes and flooded Amazon jungle.
  • 19:00 - Dinner, where the chef will offer a wide variety of national and international cuisine fused with local techniques and organic ingredients, catering to meat-eaters, vegetarians, and vegans.
  • Afterwards, your guide will brief you and provide details about the next day's activities in the Amazon rainforest while you enjoy drinks and jungle cocktails. Enjoy your overnight stay at the camping site.

Day 03

Wildlife Exploration and Nuevo Rocafuerte

  • 6:00 - Breakfast.
  • 6:30 - Jungle or river exploration for wildlife.
  • 11:30 - Return to the camping site.
  • 12:00 - Pack up the campsite.
  • 13:00 - Lunchtime, with refreshing cold drinks before you begin your next adventure.
  • 14:00 - Transfer to the town of Nuevo Rocafuerte along the Peruvian border.
  • 17:00 - Arrival at Nuevo Rocafuerte Port for local hosting.
  • 19:00 - Dinner in town at local restaurant facilities.
  • Afterwards, your guide will brief you and provide details about the next day's activities. Enjoy this small town along the Napo River, the biggest tributary from Ecuador into the Amazon River.

Day 04

Journey into Yasuní National Park

  • 6:30 - Breakfast.
  • 7:30 - Transfer to Yasuní National Park.
  • 11:30 - Arrival at the lodge. The staff will welcome you with refreshing cold drinks before you begin your adventure.
  • 13:00 - Lunchtime.
  • 16:30 - Canoe ride exploring the black caiman lagoon.
  • 19:00 - Dinner at the lodge facilities. Afterwards, interact with your guide about the next day's activities. Enjoy cold drinks and cocktails at the bar located along the lagoon.

Day 05

Canoeing, Canopy Views, and Jungle Hiking

  • 6:30 - Breakfast.
  • 7:30 - Paddling canoe ride along the lake to observe wildlife.
  • 8:30 - Visit the 40-meter tower to observe the Amazon forest and wildlife canopy.
  • 10:00 - Hike through the jungle, learning about medicinal and useful plants for self-sustainability from the local indigenous people.
  • 12:00 - Free time.
  • 13:00 - Lunch.
  • 17:00 - Night hiking.
  • 19:00 - Dinner at the lodge facilities. Afterwards, interact with your guide about the next day's activities. Enjoy cold drinks and cocktails at the bar located along the lagoon.

Day 06

Clay Licks and Indigenous Community Visit

  • 6:00 - Breakfast.
  • 6:30 - Visit the Napo River clay lick to observe parrots and parakeets.
  • 8:30 - Visit the inland Yasuní clay lick, where you may also see macaws and sometimes peccary, tapir, and jungle deer.
  • 11:00 - Visit a local indigenous community.
  • 13:00 - Lunch.
  • 14:00 - Return to the lodge.
  • 16:00 - Free time to relax.
  • 19:00 - Dinner.
  • Your guide will explain all the procedures for the journey back to Coca. Enjoy your last night in the Amazon Basin in Ecuador.

Return Transfer to Coca

  • 6:00 - Breakfast.
  • 7:00 - Enjoy the transfer back to Coca.
  • 9:30 - Arrive at Coca Airport for your flight.
