Day 01

Arrival in Kigali and City Cultural Experience

  • Upon your arrival in Kigali, you will be welcomed by our staff, who will brief you and transfer you to your hotel for check-in. After lunch, enjoy Kigali city and learn about Rwandan culture. Dinner and overnight stay at a budget hotel.

Day 02

Kigali City Tour, Genocide Memorials, and Bugesera Visit

  • The Kigali city tour will enable you to visit the Gisozi Memorial Site and continue with visits to more genocide memorial sites, as well as another village in Bugesera that was affected by the genocide. Dinner and overnight stay at a recommended accommodation unit.

Day 03

Ethno Botany Tour and Traditional Home Visit

  • Acquire traditional skills and methods used to identify diseases and traditional remedies. Go into the field with traditional healers and learn how seeds, leaves, bark, roots, and fruits can be used to cure several diseases, whether mixed or used separately. Insects, lianas, lichens, and more also play a significant role.
  • In the afternoon, visit a local home where women share their experiences in making traditional dishes. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay at a recommended hotel, or spend the night in a Rwandan home.

Day 04

Banana and Sorghum Beer Production Experience

  • Bananas and sorghum are some of the staple food products in Rwanda, and they are used in different ways, including food and local beer or drinks. They are also very important in cultural practices, especially during traditional wedding ceremonies, in settling disputes between community members, and in strengthening relationships between different families.
  • Rwanda has four different species of banana plants, each with unique uses and values, which visitors will learn about and understand while in the field. Sorghum production is quite complicated, but it is made simple to experience and is a thrilling activity.

Day 05

Kinigi Cultural Village and Departure

  • Visit Kinigi Cultural Village for a full day of adventure and gain an understanding of Rwandan culture through daily life, environmental knowledge, poetry, folklore, dancing, singing, pottery, and theoretical hunter-gatherer skills. It is one of the thrilling and adventurous experiences of the tour, as you try to adapt to traditional hut homes and lifestyle. In the evening, transfer back to Kigali to board your flight back home.
