Explore Almaty's Famous Sights and Mountain Attractions
- Meet your tour guide near the Green Market (Bazaar) main entrance at 51 Zhibek Zholy Street, on the corner of Dostyk Street.
- Explore the Green Market's oriental flavors and delicacies, including Kumys (horse milk) and Shubat (camel milk). Learn a little about Kazakh cuisine, and buy souvenirs or do some shopping if needed.
- Walk to Panfilov Park (about 200-300 meters). This urban park is dedicated to 28 WWII soldier-heroes from Almaty. It contains Zenkov (Vosnesensky) Cathedral, the second tallest wooden building in the world built without nails. Take a short walk there and look at the Zenkov Cathedral.
- Go to Medeu by taxi, climb the stairs to the dam if you wish, and go ice skating. Please note that the ice-skating option is regularly available only during winter.
- Catch a cable car or an eco-microbus shuttle to Shymbulak and two stations beyond. Here, you can go skiing. Please note that sometimes the cable cars might not work or may only partially work due to maintenance. In this case, the ticket price expenses will be returned to you.
- Visit Kok-Tobe Park on your way back to the city center. This amusement park, near the TV tower of the same name on top of Kok-Tobe Mountain, features a Ferris wheel and the Beatles sculpture.
- Return by cable car or by bus to the Republic Palace area.
