Explore Sonargaon, the Ancient Capital of Bengal

  • Meet your tour guide, who will pick you up from your hotel, residence, or the airport in Dhaka City, and begin the drive to Sonargaon (approximately 1 to 1.5 hours). (9:00 to 9:45 a.m.)
  • Visit Goaldi Mosque, built in 1519 A.D. in the village of Goaldi in Sonargaon by Mulla Hizabar Akbar Khan during the reign of Sultan Hussain Shah. It is one of the ancient mosques of Bangladesh. We will take a short tea break here. (11:00 to 11:30 a.m.)
  • Go to the main building (Prasad), King Isa Kha's palace. It is now used as the Folk Art and Craft Museum and also includes the newly constructed folk art building. We will walk through the whole campus to explore the ancient capital of Bengal. (11:30 to 12:30 p.m.)
  • Explore Panam City, which was built in 1500 A.D. Some wealthy Hindu lords operated their businesses here and created a city to live in with all facilities. The area, divided by a single road, features the main colonial-style buildings. These artistic buildings will take us back to ancient Bangla. (12:30 to 1:30 p.m.)
  • Stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant and enjoy local food, which may be a little spicy and hot. Please let us know after booking if you have any special requirements. (1:30 to 2:00 p.m.)
  • Take a short rest under a greenwood tree and enjoy some conversation. (2:00 to 2:30 p.m.)
  • Head to the Meghna River for a boat ride. Meghna is one of the three major rivers in Bangladesh, and Sonargaon is situated on its bank. (2:30 to 4:00 p.m.)
  • Return to your hotel or residence in Dhaka City. (4:00 to 6:00 p.m.)
