Explore Kolkata's Freedom Movement Sites

  • Meet your tour guide at your hotel and begin your day tour of Kolkata. Though it was once the capital of the British Raj, Kolkata was also the cradle of many freedom fighters and revolutionaries. Visit places associated with the Indian freedom movement, where the stories and sites may give you goosebumps or even moisten your eyes. Discover meeting places, hideouts, the first site of the Swadeshi movement, the hall where our national anthem was first sung, and more on this Azadi tour.
  • Take a short walk to St. John's Church in Dalhousie Square. You will also visit the Writer's Building, which was once the working office of the servants of the East India Company. Today, it serves as an administrative office of the government.
  • Head to the black hole site, where the Black Hole tragedy took place. According to history, prisoners were locked overnight in a room, and most died due to suffocation.
  • See other famous sites such as Town Hall, Shahid Minar, Albert Hall, and the Paramount and Favourite Cabin, which was a meeting place for revolutionaries and Bengal intellectuals.
