Lake Manyara Wildlife Safari from Moshi
- Pick up from the lodge or hotel in Tanzania.
- Drive across the Great Rift Valley floor to Lake Manyara National Park. This small, beautiful gem of a park, with its lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant fig trees and mahogany trees, takes its name from the Maasai word for "euphorbia tirucalli," a wild bush used locally to make a thorny hedge known as a boma to protect cattle.
- Look out for herds of elephants, buffalo, Masai giraffes, zebras, and a variety of antelopes that inhabit the park, along with several monkey species and a large population of hippos that roam around the lake and occupy the lake itself.
- Get a chance to spot the legendary tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara National Park, well known for their tree-climbing habits and for lazily resting on the branches of "Acacia tortilis" trees. Birdlife is also abundant, with flamingos, pelicans, hornbills, and plenty of forest species.
- In the late afternoon, drive back to a lodge in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Overnight at Eileen's Tree Inn in Karatu.
