Day 02

Okavango Delta Walk and Transfer to Moremi

  • Wake up early in the morning for a light breakfast. After breakfast, go for your final morning safari walk in the Okavango Delta. As you explore the Delta on foot, you will once again search for wildlife in an area world-famous for its rich biodiversity.
  • Return to camp after your safari walk to wrap up your mokoro excursion in the Okavango Delta. Thereafter, you will be poled back to the mokoro station for pickup by your safari guide, then travel northwards to Moremi for a two-night stay full of activities.
  • Enjoy game-watching en route as you drive to the northwestern tip of Moremi Game Reserve, where your camp will be your home for the next two nights while exploring this fascinating wildlife spectacle.
  • Arrive at your selected tented safari camp, freshen up, and enjoy some light snacks and drinks before embarking on your first game drive in Moremi. The drive is conducted in a purpose-built safari vehicle with an open roof for easy game-watching and photography inside the renowned Moremi Game Reserve. This is the only official protected area in the Okavango Delta and hosts abundant wildlife across its diverse habitats. The area near the safari camp is known for its abundance of lions and other big cats, so keep your eyes open for a timeless wild experience.
  • See other wild animals in the area, including wild dogs, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, and more. After sunset, make your way back to the safari camp, looking out for nocturnal animals as you drive into the night for a night game drive experience, when most of the big cats are active and emerge from their habitats.
  • Return to camp for wine and dining, and enjoy a hearty dinner at the dining tent. Later, gather around the campfire to reflect on the day's activities, what you may have missed, and what to focus on as you map out the next day's game drive and activities. Day 03

Full-Day Wildlife Viewing in Moremi

  • Leave at 0600 hrs before breakfast and return at 0900 hrs to camp for a full breakfast. Tea or coffee with some snacks is served first to prepare you for the morning activity.
  • Pack your lunches and embark on a full-day exclusive game drive in the vast Moremi Game Reserve, situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango Delta. The reserve boasts diverse ecosystems ranging from floodplains, lagoons, and grasslands to riverine areas and Mopane woodlands. With this wide variety of vegetation comes a diverse spectrum of wildlife. Your day will be spent searching for the many animals and birds for which this area is renowned, while absorbing the sounds and beauty of the African wilderness in its most indigenous state.
  • Encounter huge herds of buffaloes and elephants in the Mopane scrub, and keep an eye out for elusive African wild dogs, lions, and leopards, among others. Day 04

Moremi to Kazinkini and Khwai Concession

  • Wake up today and enjoy an early morning breakfast. Shortly after breakfast, take a short game drive through Moremi Game Reserve and, as you exit Moremi, recapture your moments in these magnificent landscapes and among its mammals.
  • Pack your lunches and set out to visit the local tribe as you prepare to explore Kazinkini, a private concession next to Moremi Game Reserve. It is usually a stunning place in the rainy season, when wildlife moves from Moremi towards Kazinkini. Being allowed to go off-road makes life on safari much easier in Kazinkini. The Bayei tribe are excellent basket weavers and carvers, and the villagers will share their early lifestyle through to the present day with traditional dances, demonstrations by the traditional doctor, the old style of hunting, basket weaving, the carving of wooden curios, and the granaries where grain is stored. This is an area that has earned its place among the world's top conservation areas thanks to its role in providing a safe home for Botswana's endangered rhinos.
  • Enjoy this reserve's wildlife and cultural diversity, pieced together with waterways that attract habitat for a remarkable number of bird species. You will spend time here until late afternoon before eventually heading northeast on a short drive to the Khwai Concession for a two-night stay exploring this vast ecosystem with its abundance of wildlife and birdlife, beautiful scenery, and a setting that makes you want to stay longer.
  • The Khwai Concession, about 1,800 square kilometres in size, is situated in the northeastern Okavango next to Moremi Game Reserve. It is a prolific and varied wildlife ecosystem dominated by a patchwork of lagoons, grasslands, permanent floodplains, and large Mopane woodland forests. Khwai is undoubtedly one of the most scenic areas of the Okavango. It is also a predator-rich area, with a marvellous selection of predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, serval cats, and African wild cats.
  • Arrive at your camp or lodge in time for lunch. Lunch is served, and you can rest before embarking on an afternoon introductory game drive to familiarize yourself with this vast land full of breathtaking encounters.
  • Continue the game drive for the rest of the afternoon until dusk, with the possibility of watching the sunset unfold over the Khwai River - a rare experience and a perfect photographic memory of Khwai.

Day 05

Game Drives in the Scenic Khwai Concession

  • Have an early breakfast, then go for your usual morning game drive. Your journey follows the Khwai River's watercourse, weaving from the riverside and floodplains into the Mopane veld and woodlands that make Khwai one of the most scenic areas of the Okavango. The Khwai area boasts an excellent population of African elephants, both solitary bulls and breeding herds. The swampy areas are home to red lechwe. Other resident species include the Southern giraffe, Burchell's zebra, tsessebe, greater kudu, impalas, and more. The whole of Khwai is also one of Botswana's birding meccas, and the raptors and water birds are particularly abundant, making for excellent photography. You will head out again in the afternoon to explore other areas of the Khwai Concession.
  • Return to camp in the evening, refresh, and then dinner is served. Enjoy a mouthwatering dinner prepared by your safari chef.

Day 06

Khwai to Savuti Through the Wilds

  • Rise very early and begin your bush activities before breakfast, with a cup of coffee or tea and snacks served to wake you up.
  • Embark on this dawn game drive, with a high chance of capturing adventurous moments when most animals are active and nocturnal species are heading back to their hideouts. Animals are especially active at this time before the scorching heat sends them into the bushes for cover, making this your moment to get the most from the experience.
  • Return to camp for a full breakfast and to freshen up in readiness to exit Khwai Concession. Check out and proceed on an en route game drive as you travel northeastwards to Savuti for a two-night stay.
  • Reach your camp in time for lunch. After lunch and a short rest, begin exploring the expansive Savuti ecosystem until late in the evening, then head back to camp for dinner and overnight. Explore the wilds of Savuti, where big game roams in the stunning Okavango Delta and abundant wildlife and birdlife thrive. Savuti is best known for its predators, both big cats - lion, leopard, and cheetah - and birds of prey, including raptors and vultures that soar over the landscape in search of food.
  • Perhaps the strangest phenomenon of all in Savuti is the 100-kilometre Savuti Channel. At times it stops flowing and remains dry for years at a stretch. When the channel recommences its flow, it changes the entire ecosystem, transforming the Savuti Marsh and Mababe Depression into wetlands and creating an oasis that provides water for thirsty wildlife herds. It also acts as a magnet for a profusion of water birds and habitats for large herds of elephants, buffaloes, and other plains game, while you get up close to spectacular landscapes and remarkable animals.
  • In the evening, after dinner is served and you are refreshed, assemble at the campfire to sit back and listen to local tales of the land, exchange notes on the day's activities, and plan the next day's targets.

Day 07

Savuti Marshlands and Bushman Rock Paintings

  • Wake up early in the morning and freshen up with a cup of tea or coffee and some snacks. At 0600 hrs, leave for the dawn game drive, with rare opportunities to spot nocturnal animals and big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards in real-time pursuit of their prey.
  • Return to camp, where a full breakfast is served. With picnic lunch boxes, head out for a full day exploring Savuti and its marshlands. The Savuti Marsh is a vast expanse of grasslands dotted with dead acacia trees, creating an intriguing, almost ghost-like landscape. Another point of interest in Savuti is the Bushman rock paintings, thought to be well over a thousand years old. These paintings depict giraffes, elephants, and eland. If time permits, you will visit these rock paintings.
  • Proceed for the afternoon game drive, which continues until late afternoon, when you return to camp at sunset. Dinner follows before you turn in for the night, or continue discussing the day's events around the campfire.

Day 08

Savuti to Chobe National Park

  • Wake up early in the morning for a light breakfast. Shortly thereafter, leave for an early morning game drive, an excellent time to capture adventurous moments before the scorching sun scatters the animals into hiding in the bushland. The Savuti area, with its wide open grassy plains and scattered rocky outcrops, is perfect for large herds of elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, and giraffe families, not forgetting the many predators that follow them. As the Savuti area is vast, you can opt for a full-day trip or a combined morning and afternoon drive, depending on where the animals are concentrated. The plains are always a highlight, and the area is known for its great concentration of predators. You can also do a short climb to see some Bushman rock paintings and beautiful vistas from the hill before exiting Savuti for the Chobe River.
  • Pass through some traditional villages along the road for a personal encounter with the local tribe in their villages.
  • Arrive in Chobe late in the afternoon, in time to still enjoy a short sundown game drive as you leisurely drive to camp along the river, with plenty of wildlife to watch, especially huge herds of elephants as well as buffaloes and other plains game, with big cats in pursuit.

Day 09

Chobe River Game Viewing and Boat Cruise

  • Explore the Chobe River and enjoy an extensive game drive along its borders. This area has one of the densest animal concentrations in Africa, and you can expect to see many different species, including roan antelope, sable antelope, puku, red lechwe, and giraffes, with a high possibility of seeing lions, leopards, and wild dogs. Chobe never disappoints. There is always something to make every moment special and out of the ordinary, with action-packed scenery and prolific wildlife and birdlife in this spectacular place. Lunch is served in camp, or you may opt for picnic lunch boxes to allow more time for wildlife viewing, especially in the afternoon when short drives along the Chobe riverbank are ideal, as this is the time when many animals come to the river to drink. Chobe National Park, tucked into Botswana's far northeastern border with Namibia, is one of Africa's great wildlife destinations. It is the ultimate haven for vast herds of elephants - as many as 120,000 depend on the Chobe River's life-sustaining waterways when the dry season sets in. Other resident game species include large herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and the rare puku, roan, and sable antelopes. These are often trailed by the notoriously fearless lions of Chobe, as well as leopard and cheetah, among other wildlife.
  • Enjoy the boat cruise, the highlight of the day's activities. This Chobe River boat cruise gives you the chance to experience the animals of Chobe National Park from a different perspective, bringing you up close to hippos, crocodiles, and a mind-boggling array of water birds.
  • Drive back to camp with en route game-watching until dusk. After dinner, enjoy your last campfire of the safari at Chobe, where you conclude your main adventure goals. Later, retire to your respective luxury tents with your mind filled with action-packed memories and the sweet silent night of the African bush.

Day 10

Final Chobe Game Drive and Departure

  • Wake up very early to enjoy a breakfast prepared by your safari chef. After breakfast, take your final en route game drive through Chobe National Park as you head out to Kasane. Chobe is one of the best places to see and photograph roan and sable antelopes. Puku antelope occurs nowhere else in southern Africa but only on the Chobe floodplains. On the other hand, the massive herds of African buffalo roaming the vast Chobe are constantly flanked by the ever-hungry lions of Chobe. Your safari ends around midday upon reaching Kasane or Maun.
  • Drop-off at your hotel or at Kasane Airport for your onward travel.
