Itinerary
-
Explore the Famous Historical Gems of Egypt
- Meet your guide after breakfast and start the journey towards Dahshur.
- Visit the Dahshour enclosure and its two pyramids; the rhomboid and red pyramids. Both date from the time of King Senefru, father of King Cheops. These pyramids were the last found in Egypt before starting in the wonder of the world, the pyramid of Cheops. The rhomboid pyramid, historically the oldest of the two, still has a large part of the cladding that protected it over time. South of that pyramid is the small pyramid of his wife, Hetep Heres, the mother of Cheops. The other pyramid, because of the iron oxide in the stone, is called the red pyramid. The enclosure has a very large and important military base, so you cannot take photos with strong zoom for security reasons. You can get inside the chambers of both pyramids, but they are quite long and deep.
- Continue your tour to Sakkara and visit the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest existing colossal stone building in Egypt, built around 2630 B.C. for King Djoser. You will visit one of several tombs in Sakkara of the nobles, known as Mastabas, with their well-preserved colours and interesting themes of the daily life of the ancient Egyptians. You can also enjoy a panoramic view of the great pyramid field of the western Egyptian desert and have lunch at a local restaurant.
- Head to the famed pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Menkaure. Next, see the Great Sphinx, a limestone statue of the mythical creature- the Sphinx with the head of a Pharaoh and the body of a lion.
- Explore the Valley Temple, a funerary complex including a mortuary temple and the Pyramids of Chefren.
- Stop at the popular stores to see Egyptian products like papyrus and souvenirs.
- Return to the hotel.
