Itinerary
-
Day 1- Arrive in Cairo
- Meet your tour guide at Cairo International Airport and head to the hotel for check-in. At the hotel, the tour manager will take you through the itinerary to confirm pick-up times for each day.
Overnight in Cairo.
-
Day 2- Explore the Ancient Pyramids of Giza
- Have breakfast at your hotel and meet the tour guide to visit the Giza enclosure and its pyramids. It will be a journey of approximately three hours on the Giza plateau to discover the most outstanding monuments worldwide, of course, not to miss the only wonder of the ancient world that exists until now- The Pyramid of King Cheops. Also, next to it are two more large pyramids; that of Khafre, son of Cheops and that of Menkaure, son of the Khafre and grandson of Cheops. This is where the most famous sculpture in the world is located- the Sphinx of Giza, dating to the time of Khafre, with a human head and a lion's body.
- Head to the Temple of the Valley. In the enclosure are six satellite pyramids; three next to that of Cheops and three that of Menkaure, which were for his wives and daughters. (Those not overwhelmed by closed places can access the interior of a pyramid. They can choose between the pyramid of Khafre or Menkaure for only 100 L.E. For those who want to enter the pyramid of Cheops; the price is 440 L.E. Tickets are bought at the ticket offices of the main entrances of the enclosure, and only the Egyptian currency, the pound, is accepted.)
- Stroll through a papyrus gallery to see how the ancient paper was made. Time for lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo.
- Proceed to the Egyptian Museum of Cairo in the afternoon.
- Transfer to the Giza train station (according to the time decided) to board the train heading to Luxor. It is a train with double cabins (with 2 beds). The trip lasts approximately 9 hours.
Have dinner and the next day's breakfast on the train.
-
Day 3- Visit the East Bank of Luxor
- Visit the eastern shore of Luxor with your tour guide and see the temple of Luxor, from the time of the new kingdom of the Pharaohs: Tuthmosis III, Ramses II, Amenophis III and Alexander the Great, next to the Nile River. We can see the avenue of the 2,500-meter-long sphinxes dating back to the 4th century BC and the reign of Nectaneb II that connected the temple of Luxor with the temple of Karnak (which we will visit later). It is the largest temple of worship in the world (about 23 hectares) with 22 centuries of works from the 20th century B.C. until the 2nd century A.D. And all of this was for the cult of the main triad of the city: Amon Re, Mot and Khonsu.
- Head back to the hotel for check-in after having lunch at a local restaurant.
- Head out to enjoy Felucca.
Night at Luxor hotel.
-
Day 4- Head to the West Bank of Luxor
- Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and set out to visit the western bank of the Nile, which includes the visit to the most important necropolis in Egypt- the Place of Truth, the Valley of the Kings. We can see three tombs of the 63 in total that have been discovered so far in the enclosure. The tombs are well preserved with colours and very interesting texts that describe the afterlife and the king's journey to the afterlife of paradise (Our guide will choose the best three tombs, which are open to visit, for you).
- Visit the temple of Deir el Bahary. It is the funerary temple of Pharaoh Hatchepsut from 1480 B.C., which has a very rare shape of two ramps and three terraces in front of the cliff of the Theban limestone mountain. You can still see colours on the temple walls that still have a more carved part inside the mountain with the sanctuary of the holy place.
- Head to see the temple of Medinet Habu, built for King Ramses the third. Stop in front of the Colossi of Memnon; two gigantic statues that were moved from Cairo to flank the entrance to the funerary temple of King Amenophis III. However, the temple was lost, and the statues remain, being a witness to the temple's greatness in its time. We will discover the legend of Aurora and Memnon next to the king and the answer to why they are called the Colossi of Memnon.
- Transfer to the Luxor train station to board the train heading to Cairo.
Dinner and the next day's breakfast on the train.
-
Day 5- Departure
- Transfer to Cairo Airport for the flight back to your next destination.
