Nizwa Fort, Al Hamra, Misfah al Abryeen and Jebel Shams
- We will depart from Muscat to Nizwa, the old capital of Oman.
- We will visit the famous Nizwa Fortress. Today, the fort is a museum showcasing the history of the fortress and the surrounding area. As you walk through the fortress, you will see amazing views of the ancient town and the nearby mountains. This impressive fortress was once used as a military base to hold off brutal attacks and sieges. Next to the fortress is the large Nizwa Souq, a local marketplace offering a variety of goods, including jewellery, pottery, fish, and meats.
- Afterwards, we will head to Al Hamra to visit the village, where we experience how locals lived in earlier times.
- After this quick tour, we will continue to Misfah al Abryeen, a village nestled at the base of Jebel Shams. Here, you will see the extensive Falaj water system that supplies water to the nearby vegetation. Numerous marked footpaths throughout the village are recommended, allowing you to take your time and explore.
- From the village, we will drive up to Jebel Shams Mountain, the Grand Canyon of Oman. The canyon itself is enough to leave you in wonder. As you walk around, there is so much to see and admire.
- Once late afternoon arrives, we will depart back to Muscat.
