Day by day
Hotel pick-up at 05:00 a.m. for the drive to Senaru, followed by breakfast at around 07:00. Leave RTC (Rinjani Trekking Club) to begin the climb, travelling through local farmers' fields and tropical rainforest.
At around 12:00 p.m., arrive at Base Camp III for lunch.
Continue up to the crater rim for the first night's camp, where dinner will be served. Watch a glorious sunset here.
Get up early to watch the sunrise.
At 07:00, have breakfast and enjoy the lake view from the rim.
Make a 2-hour descent into the crater to Segara Anak Lake.
On reaching Segara Anak Lake, enjoy a long break by the lakeside and have lunch here. Take a cool dip in the lake or relax in the natural volcanic hot spring.
Explore the area or take a nap.
At 02:30 p.m., continue to the Sembalun Crater Rim for dinner.
Get to bed early to catch the sunrise from the summit.
Undertake a 3-hour summit climb to Mt. Rinjani from 3:00 a.m. to catch the sunrise at a height of 3,726 metres above sea level.
After taking in the view from the top of Rinjani, return to Sembalun Rim Camp and have breakfast.
At 10:00 a.m., descend to the village of Sembalun, a journey of about 4-5 hours. Transport will be there for the transfer to Senaru.

Mount Rinjani looms large over Lombok. At 3,726 m, Rinjani is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia after Mount Kerinci in Sumatra, and it dominates the landscape of the relatively small island of Lombok.
The mountain and its satellites form Mount Rinjani National Park (Taman Nasional Gunung Rinjani) - officially 41,000 hectares within the park boundaries and a further 66,000 hectares of protected forest outside.
In 2008, the Indonesian government proposed to UNESCO that Mount Rinjani be one of the world's official geoparks.
