The itinerary

Day 01

Iquitos, Nauta and Arrival at San Martin de Tipishca

  • 3:00 pm: Transfer by car from Iquitos to Nauta city (approximately 2 hours).

Accommodation for a quick overnight.

  • At 3:00 am, depart from Nauta up the Marañón River for approximately 6 hours to Puerto Prado Village.
  • Navigate by a typical Peke Peke motorboat to the entrance of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (approximately 1 hour by boat).
  • Arrive at San Martin de Tipishca, an indigenous community.

Accommodation and lunch.

  • In the afternoon, observe dolphins at the mouth of the Samiria River.
  • In the evening, have dinner and go on a night excursion by boat to look for caimans.

Day 02

Birdwatching and Jungle Exploration

  • 6:00 am: Enjoy birdwatching along Tipishca Lake.
  • 9:00 am: Explore the Samiria area in search of wildlife, with camping and jungle exploration.

Camping and overnight.

Day 03

Birdwatching, Fishing and Return to Iquitos

  • 6:00 am: Enjoy birdwatching as you look for parrots, macaws, egrets, and more.
  • 9:00 am: Full piranha fishing.
  • 3:00 pm: Explore the lakes and go sightseeing while looking for jaguars, capybaras, river otters, and more.
  • 7:30 pm: Go for a night walk and look for insects, mammals, and more.
  • Depart from the Samiria to Nauta city on a 7-hour boat trip.
  • Arrive in Nauta city at 10 am.
  • Transfer from Nauta to Iquitos (approximately 2 hours).
