The itinerary

Day 01

From The Gambia to Tambacounda via Soma and Basse

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at 6 am and drive along the Senegambia Highway, passing many villages and hamlets.
Upon arrival in the Lower River Region in Soma town, have breakfast and refreshments, with a 20-minute walk to see and experience real local market life.
Continue through the Central and Upper River regions, making a few stops at police checkpoints along the way.
Arrive in Basse, one of the largest commercial cities in The Gambia, for lunch, then proceed to the Gambian-Senegalese border for passport control.
Drive a short distance to reach Wellingara, a business town in southern Senegal.
Head to Tambacounda, a large state in Senegal, for a drinks break.
Check in to Hotel de Wassadu. After refreshments and relaxation, join the restaurant for dinner.

Day 02

Niokolokoba Safari, Dindefello Waterfalls and Bassari Culture

Wake up early at 6:30 am for breakfast and get ready for the Niokolokoba National Park safari.
Drive for about 5 hours to what is widely considered the most natural and protected home for fauna and flora in the Senegambia region. Niokolokoba is located in a well-watered area along the banks of the Senegal and Gambia rivers. The gallery forest and savannah have very rich fauna, including Derby elands, chimpanzees, lions, leopards, and a large population of elephants, as well as many birds, reptiles, and amphibians, including all three types of African crocodiles and hippos.
After the safari, have lunch at Campement du Lions and later proceed to the Dindefello Waterfalls. Located just miles from the Guinea border, the falls are about 100 meters high. You will have the chance to bathe, swim, and look around to see locals as they come over to wash the gold they mined.
Afterwards, drive to meet one of the most culturally rich tribes in Senegal, the Bassari tribe, and learn through close study about their origin, history, and culture.
Transfer back to the lodge and have dinner.

Day 03

Return Journey from Senegal to The Gambia

Wake up early at 6 am for breakfast and set off on your final journey back to The Gambia.
Make stops for passport control at the Gambian-Senegalese border, with refreshments and lunch along the way.
Arrive back at your hotel at approximately 7 pm.
