Day 01

Juffureh Village, Kunta Kinteh Island and River Gambia Cruise

  • Pick up from your hotel early in the morning at 6:30 am and drive to Denton Bridge riverside. Join our cruise boat and sail along the River Gambia to the north bank.
  • Upon arrival at Juffureh and Albreda Village, a guided tour will be conducted to the Slave Statues and the Museum of Slavery.
  • Meet the lady chief of Juffureh village, who is also a descendant of Kunta Kinteh.
  • Next, continue by wooden canoe to the ruins of Fort James Island, now called Kunta Kinteh Island, where slaves were imprisoned.
  • Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch on board and, hopefully, see the dolphins that often play alongside the boat.
  • Arrive back at your hotel at 6 pm. Tour ends.
