Abu Simbel Temple Excursion
- The tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan in a private air-conditioned car to Abu Simbel. The journey takes about three hours by car from Aswan to Abu Simbel.
- You will enjoy the Abu Simbel area with its main attractions, “The Great Temple of the Sun of Ramses II” and the Temple of Queen Nefertari. Both temples were discovered in 1813 and were completely covered in sand. Then both temples were moved in 1960 with the help of the Egyptian government and UNESCO to avoid the rising waters of the Nile. Ramses II built the temple mostly to honour himself, as inside, there is a fresco depicting his famous victory at the Battle of Kadesh, where his army defeated his enemies. It is considered one of the masterpieces of ancient Egypt because it is considered an astronomical miracle, where the sun passes twice a year on the face of King Ramses II, once on the king’s birthday and again on the day of his coronation on the throne.
