Day 01

Banjul, Barra, Wassu and River Gambia Cruise

  • Pick up from your hotel at 6:00 am and drive to Banjul, the capital city.
  • Join the local ferry to Barra.
  • Follow the north bank of the River Gambia, making a market stop at Farafenni.
  • Visit the mysterious stone circles at Wassu and learn what is known about them.
  • Have lunch before cruising further down the River Gambia, where you might catch sight of wild hippos, crocodiles, baboons, chimpanzees, monkeys, and birds that live on the reserve.
  • On the return journey after the boat trip, head to another ferry crossing point to cross to Georgetown.
  • Your accommodation and dinner are at Baobolong Riverside Camp.

Georgetown Colonial Sights and Return

  • After breakfast, go to town to take in the sights and discover what was once The Gambia's first colonial capital city.
  • Visit the Freedom Tree Monument, the ruins of the old colonial buildings and structures, and the underground slave station.
  • On the return journey, have lunch at a restaurant before arriving at the hotel at 6:00 pm.
