Day 01

Phetchaburi Temples, Palace, and Cave Excursion

You will be met by your tour guide to start the program and drive north of Hua Hin to Phetchaburi.
Begin with a visit to Wat Mahathat, which stands proud and tall. It is nonetheless stylistically influenced by the Khmer period, and its architectural interest belies its comparative lack of age. The towering central stupa rises from the middle of a cloister lined with Buddha images and is surrounded by smaller stupas, each with a small chapel.
From there, visit a temple decorated with stucco art, followed by Wat Yaisuwannaram, another important temple that contains 300-year-old mural paintings of mythical angels. The Ayutthaya throne hall was built entirely of teakwood and decorated with fine carving work, especially on the door panels.
Before the journey continues to Khao Luang Cave, which houses no fewer than 170 Buddha images, proceed to the beautiful summer palace, Phra Nakhon Khiri, of King Rama IV. See the royal heritage in the palace museum and admire the spectacular view from the observatory.
Then, lunch will be taken in Phetchaburi town. Phetchaburi sweets are made from a once-secret recipe, and the tour includes a demonstration and your own creation before heading back to the hotel.
