Phetchaburi Historical Park, Temples, Market and Cave Excursion
8:30 am pickup from your hotel in Hua Hin city, followed by travel to Phetchaburi Province.
Begin by visiting Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park, Phetchaburi's most well-known landmark, locally known as Khao Wang (Palace Hill), located on the three peaks of a 95-meter-high verdant hill in the city. It was built under the royal command of King Rama IV as his summer palace and was completed in 1860.
Continue to Khao Luang Cave, a 100-year-old temple and place of worship. This worship site is found in the mountains and was built on a small hill with a height of only 92 metres.
Enjoy learning experiences from locals living at the oldest Phetchaburi Riverside Market, take photos of the street art at the old market, taste street food, and try the famous Khao-Chae - rice in ice water, one of the traditional Thai foods for summertime.
Then head to Wat Mahathat Temple, a Royal Temple built in the 11th-13th century. The large complex is surrounded by a wall with several large, elaborate entrance gates. Wat Mahathat Worawihan comprises five large prangs, a viharn, an ubosot, several chedis, the kuti, and several other monastic buildings. Most eye-catching are the five white prangs towering above the area, visible from much of Phetchaburi town. The temple is also known for its extensive fine stucco work.
Relax with a unique coffee and chat with the local barista at Mokapot Kaffee, the cafe on a local truck (mobile coffee shop), while enjoying a great view of the countryside.
Next, proceed to Wat Huay Mongkol, famous for its enormous statue of one of Thailand's most famous monks, Luang Phor Thuad. The statue, about 12 meters tall and 10 meters wide, is set on a large mound. This place is very popular with Thai people from all over the country, who come here to pay respect to Luang Phor Thuad and to ask for favours, good luck, health, fortune, and happiness.
Afterwards, return to your hotel in Hua Hin.
Tour ends.
