2-Day Cycling Tour from Hoi An to Hue via Hai Van Pass

• Leave Hoi An behind and travel by bus for 20 minutes to China Beach.

• Bike from China Beach to the top of Hai Van Pass, which is 500 meters high above sea level. The pass is praised by BBC's Top Gear as the most beautiful coastal mountain road in the world.

• Take a rest at the top, walk to see vestiges of the most significant contemporary eras built by the Nguyen dynasty, and enjoy some time to relax with a picnic lunch.

• After lunch, the ride is downhill with fantastic views to Lang Co and along the rim of Lang Co Lagoon.

• Check into the hotel in mid-afternoon, and spend the remainder of the afternoon resting or enjoying a swim at Lang Co beach. (Cycling: 60 km).

• Have breakfast at the hotel and take a short 25-minute transfer to the bottom of Phuoc Tuong Pass. The ride is known to offer the most spectacular rural landscape in the whole of Vietnam.

• Visit An Bang cemetery, or 'Ghost City' - a well-known, fantastic, huge cemetery at Vinh Hien village.

• Continue riding along the Tam Giang lagoon, cross Truong Ha Bridge, then turn onto backcountry roads that pass through rural villages, rice paddy fields, rivers, and forests.

• Stop at Thanh Toan Covered Bridge for an opportunity to chat with local people, visit the village communal houses, local market, and temple, and learn more about local culture.

• Leaving the ornate bridge, ride the last biking portion of the trip on interesting village roads winding through green paddy fields to the historic capital of Hue. (65 km cycling).

Note: The itinerary can be done in reverse as well, for those starting in Hue and wanting to end in Hoi An.
