Panama Canal, Gatun Lake and Soberanía National Park

  • In the morning, you will be picked up by your naturalist tour guide and driven to the town of Gamboa, where the Chagres River meets the Panama Canal.
  • Board an expedition boat to visit Soberanía National Park.
  • Explore the Panama Canal and Gatun Lake in search of plants, butterflies, amphibians, monkeys, and other fascinating wild creatures. Gatun Lake is an essential part of the Panama Canal, forming a water passage between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean that permits ship transit in both directions. At the time it was formed, Gatun Lake was the largest artificial lake in the world.
  • After a couple of hours on the boat, return to the pier and visit Pipeline Road for a nature walk. Pipeline Road is one of the best-known eco-trails in Panama and worldwide due to the large number of birds reported there. In addition, this 17 km-long path is an excellent place to witness and enjoy much of Panama's biodiversity.
  • At the end of the tour, drive to the Amador Causeway for a late lunch (not included).
