The experience combines exciting game drives with scenic boat trips, including a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel and a boat ride on Lake Mburo. In the afternoon, take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga Channel to see water animals at close range, including hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, and elephants bathing on the channel banks.

The itinerary

1
Day 01

Entebbe to Queen Elizabeth National Park

  • Connect with your tour guide, who will pick you up from Entebbe Airport or your hotel and transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes 6-7 hours, with stopovers at tourist attractions such as the Royal Drum Makers' Village and the Equator, where you will have the opportunity to stand in two hemispheres at the same time.
  • You will continue through the savannah grasslands, passing lots of banana plantations and several herds of local long-horned Ankole cattle endemic to this part of the country.
  • You will reach Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening.

Day 02

Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Cruise

  • Today, set off early for a morning game drive, an awesome experience for spotting animals in their natural habitats. Expect to see 4 of the famous Big Five, as well as elephants, buffaloes, lions, bushbucks, kobs, giant forest hogs, hyenas, leopards, antelopes, waterbucks, and birds.
  • You will return for breakfast and relax until lunch.
  • In the afternoon, take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga Channel to see water animals at close range, including hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, and elephants bathing on the channel banks. There is also a variety of bird species along the water banks, especially the famous shoebill, pelican, and jacana.

Day 03

Transfer to Lake Mburo and Boat Trip

  • Depart after breakfast for Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes 3-4 hours, with stopovers at areas of tourist attraction.
  • You will have lunch at the lodge reserved for you, after which you will go for an afternoon boat trip on the lake, which is rich in a variety of animals such as hippos and crocodiles, as well as bird species.
  • In the evening, take a nature walk before retiring for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 04

Morning Game Drive and Departure to Entebbe

  • You will have an early morning game drive through the park in search of plains game such as zebra, hippos, crocodiles, eland, antelope, impala, and a variety of birds.
  • Then depart for Kampala and proceed onward to the airport.

What to bring

  • Rain jacket - Consider including a rain jacket or poncho, as rain can fall at any time. Although many clients prefer travelling in the drier months of June, July, August, and the beginning of September, you should still be prepared for wet weather.
  • Long-sleeved shirts/blouse - You are advised to have long-sleeved clothing. Please ensure that you tuck your trousers into your hiking boots to help avoid insects entering your trousers. Jeans and khaki trousers can do this better.
  • Energy-giving snacks - Carry some energy-giving snacks as supplements. Before departing from your lodge, you should also carry your packed lunch and plenty of drinking water.
  • Cameras and extra batteries - Photography is an important component of your safari, so make sure your camera is ready, your batteries are fully charged, and carry extra batteries if necessary.
  • Hat and sunglasses - If it is hot, please carry a hat to protect yourself from the strong sun rays. You may also wish to bring sunglasses.
  • Pair of binoculars - Do not forget that you are on safari and may want clear views of wildlife and birds.
