Sign up for this wildlife tour to Bwindi National Park and Lake Bunyonyi, where you will track mountain gorillas in their home in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The journey takes you through southwestern Uganda, across the Equator, past Mbarara and the scenic Kigezi Highlands, before reaching the Gorilla Sanctuary. After your gorilla tracking experience, relax by the cool waters of Lake Bunyonyi before returning to Kampala or Entebbe.

Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach heights of 2,200-2,478 m, but it is the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical - you could admire them all day.

Day 02

Gorilla Tracking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

  • After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the Gorilla Sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular. The area offers a dramatic, steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, yet crisscrossed by numerous animal trails that allow access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates.
  • Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed one hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome and exciting experience to be long savoured.
  • Return to your lodge for lunch, and thereafter check out for a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach heights of 2,200-2,478 m, but it is the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical - you could admire them all day.

  • Expect en route stopovers in Mbarara town for lunch and at the Uganda Equator line mark in Kayabwe for some memorable photos, if you did not stop there on the first day, and perhaps to buy some art pieces of interest.
  • Proceed with the journey, arriving in the late afternoon or evening for drop-off at the airport or your booked accommodation. We recommend a late afternoon or evening outbound flight schedule for this day if you are flying out. We hope to see you, or any referral, on your next visit.
