Itinerary
-
Day 1- Colombo - Habarana
- Arrive in Sri Lanka, meet your tour representative and drive to Habarana. Check-in and leisure in the hotel.
-
Day 2- Minneriya - Polonnaruwa
- Watch the Great Elephant Gathering at Minneriya National Park on this 3-hour private jeep safari. Accompanied by a driver cum guide, view the elephants eating, bathing, and playing in their natural environment.
- If you are lucky, it’s possible to see leopards, deer, wild buffalo, wild pigs, grey langers, purple-faced leaf monkeys, peacocks, and assorted birds inside the park.
-
Day 3- Sigiriya
- Today, discover the 8th wonder of the world – the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Dating back to the 5th Century A.D, this astounding ‘city’ on the summit of a high outcrop was the royal citadel of King Kassapa for over 18 years. It is a miraculous feat of artistry and engineering. Its unique features and exquisite frescoes continue to amaze all who visit it, even today.
- In the evening, visit Dambulla Cave Temple, the best-preserved cave temple complex in the country with beautiful statues and painting.
-
Day 4- Kandy
- Go to Kandy Spice Garden, Hindu Temple, Wood carving and Batik factory.
- Proceed to Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens en route 147 acres of lushness with over 5000 species of trees and plants, many of which are rare or endemic; a spice garden and an Orchid house are yours to explore.
Overnight stay in Kandy.
-
Day 5- Kandy
- Pay homage to one of the most sacred religious sites in Sri Lanka. The Temple of the Tooth (Dalada Maligawa) is believed to house the 'tooth relic' of the Lord Buddha.
- Then, visit Tea Factory, Kandy city tour and shop in the Bazaar and enjoy Sri Lanka's traditional dance.
-
Day 6- Nuwara Eliya
- Proceed to Nuwara Eliya, the old colonial outpost perched 6200 feet above sea level. The climate also adds to the illusion of stepping into an old English town, where neat hedges, quaint cottages and beautiful old buildings stand as serene as they did well over a century ago – the magnificent Grand Hotel presiding over them all. There is, of course, an old golf course as well as horse racing events to complete the picture.
- Visit Gem Museum. On the way, stop at waterfalls and panoramas.
- Go to a tea factory and tea plantations along the way.
- Then, head to Gregory’s lake Hanumanthan Temple and vegetable market.
-
Day 7- Colombo Departure
- Head to Colombo for a city tour.
- Then, move to the airport to board your return flight.
