The itinerary

Day 01

Sólheimajökull Glacier Introduction Hike

• We start at the Sólheimajökull parking spot, where you will meet your guide. They will provide your glacier gear, including a harness, helmet, crampons, and an ice axe.
• After we put on the equipment, we begin the 15-20 minute hike to the glacier. It is a nice and easy gravel road all the way, ending with a beautiful view of the whole glacier.
• At the base of the glacier, we put on the crampons and show you how to use them. Your guide will also go over some safety rules before we start hiking on the ice.
• Once we are on the glacier, we walk for about 2 hours on the ice. This gives you plenty of time to take nice photos while the guide tells you about the area. Our guides will also show you the wonders of the glacier, such as crevasses and moulins.
