Day 01

Arrival in Sri Lanka and Transfer to Negombo

Your tour guide will meet you on arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport or at your hotel and drive you through fishermen's villages to your hotel in Negombo.

Day 02

Botanical Gardens, Beach Relaxation, and Negombo City Tour

After breakfast, leave the hotel to visit Gampaha Botanical Garden.
Spend the afternoon by the beach and relax your mind and body.
In the evening, go on a city tour and a fishermen's village tour.

Day 03

Journey to Sigiriya with Elephants and Rock Climbs

After breakfast, leave the hotel and travel to Sigiriya.
En route, stop at the Millennium Elephant Foundation, where you can feed and bathe the baby elephants, or simply sit and marvel at the many elephants relaxing in an idyllic natural environment. The afternoon is fully at your disposal.
Afterwards, climb Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock.

Today, head to Kandy.

Next, head to Bogambara Lake.

Divurumpola Temple, Kitulgala Adventure, and Unawatuna

After breakfast, leave for Kitulgala via Unawatuna.

On the way, visit Divurumpola Temple, where lovers have exchanged their vows since the ancient times of the Ramayana.

Reach Kitulgala Adventures Camp by 11 am and enjoy a welcome drink.

Have lunch at the camp. Then, go for natural rock pool sliding and confidence jumps.

Whale Watching, Galle Fort, and Balapitiya Discoveries

Early in the morning, leave for a whale-watching experience at Mirissa Beach.
Then, transfer to Balapitiya.
En route, visit Galle Dutch Fort, a bustling provincial capital and administrative centre of the south.
Then, explore the spice garden.
Next, witness the moonstone mine at Meetiyagoda, a key moonstone centre in Sri Lanka.
Later, visit Castle Farm Ahungalla and the mask factory in Ambalangoda.

PERSONAL SAFETY MEASURES
- Ensure the use of the traditional greeting of Sri Lanka, 'Ayubowan', at all times instead of hugging or handshaking.
- Before entering the hotel, we will need the required COVID-19 vaccine reports.
- The driver/tour leader should maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters between two people at all times.
- Ensure all tourists wear face masks and maintain a safe 1.5-meter distance at all times.
- The driver/tour leader should wear face masks and gloves when interacting with passengers.
- Travellers are requested to sanitize their hands frequently during the tour and site visits; further, they should wash their hands with soap and running water at the end of each site visit.
- Personal protective equipment is available in the vehicle, such as face masks, hand sanitizer, and wipes for passengers when needed.
All outside-country visitors must complete pre-departure COVID-19 PCR testing.
- A negative PCR test is required prior to boarding your flight and on arrival in Sri Lanka. The test should be no older than 72 hours before boarding.
Negombo is the most popular coastal stopover in Sri Lanka. As the fourth-largest city in Sri Lanka, Negombo has long been a centre of commercial activity and urban lifestyle, in addition to its reputation as a popular stopover destination for travellers arriving from the nearby international airport. Known for its fishing industry, this coastal city is best visited early in the morning when the local fisherfolk bring in the day's catch on the iconic catamarans of Negombo to sell at the famous Lellama, the local seafood market, filled with fascinating varieties of fish and some of the best crabs found across Sri Lanka. Negombo's history also lends the city its fond nickname of 'Little Rome', where a number of Catholic churches and cathedrals were established by the Portuguese, while the Dutch also left behind their legacy in the form of a 17th-century fort that now serves as the city prison. The Negombo town boasts several buildings dating back to the days of Dutch and Portuguese presence in the country. The beautiful seashores and the ocean are dotted with catamarans. The Negombo Lagoon is famous for its harvest of lobsters, crabs, and prawns. The seafood auctions on the beach are a must-see. Other highlights of the city are the Dutch Fort and the historic Catholic Church.
Negombo is a city on the west coast of Sri Lanka, north of the capital, Colombo. Near the waterfront, the remains of the 17th-century Dutch Fort now house a prison. Negombo Lagoon, lined with fishermen's huts, feeds into the Dutch-era Hamilton Canal. The canal leads south to Colombo. Negombo is one of the major commercial hubs in the country and the administrative centre of Negombo. It is known for its long sandy beaches and centuries-old fishing industry. Negombo has a large bilingual population dominated by Roman Catholics. The majority settled in the coastal belt speak Tamil as well, but most of them are Sinhala by ethnicity. The Sinhala name Migamuva means 'Village of the honeycomb', gaining its name from a legend mentioned in Rajaveliya.
Sigiriya has a long history. The rock fortress came into being as a result of a rivalry between two brothers. The great rock fortress, Sigiriya, was built by King Kashyapa to protect himself from his brother, King Mogallana. The site is entwined with a tragic event. The heir to the throne had been King Mogallana, but King Kashyapa had taken power by force. Fearing that his brother would return to reclaim his right to the throne, Kashyapa built this rock fortress for protection. The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 metres high. The technology used in creating the fort is excellent. However, Moggallana was able to defeat Kashyapa, and after that, the rock fortress was destroyed. Earlier, it had been a Buddhist monastery, and after the palace was destroyed, it became a Buddhist monastery once again. Sigiriya was later discovered in 1831 by Europeans. A major in the British army, Jonathan Forbes, discovered Sigiriya on his way from Polonnaruwa. Many historians and archaeologists then began excavating this rock fortress, and it is through those excavations that all the glory of the rock was revealed. Pidurangala is an enormous rock located a few kilometres north of Sigiriya. The two rocks have an interlinked history: while King Kasyapa was building Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the 5th century, he moved monks living around Sigiriya to a new monastery on Pidurangala Rock. An ancient cave temple still houses objects from various periods that reflect Buddhist, Hindu, and Western beliefs, and the stupa to the left of the temple entrance is believed to mark the spot where King Kasyapa was cremated. Pidurangala is a more challenging climb than Sigiriya, with glorious vistas of the surrounding landscape and an incredible view of the majestic Sigiriya Rock. Minneriya National Park is reported as the largest known wild Asian elephant gathering at one place in the world. The area was designated as a national park on 12 August 1997, having originally been declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. Minneriya National Park has recorded over 170 species of birds. From migrating waders like Wood Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, and Kentish Plover to forest birds like Malabar pied hornbill and Rufous woodpecker, the globally endangered Lesser Adjutant and the endemics Sri Lanka grey hornbill, Sri Lanka green pigeon, Brown-capped babbler, and Sri Lanka junglefowl are some of the highlights. Minneriya National Park covers an area of 8,889 hectares and has a tropical monsoon climate. The vegetation of the park consists of tropical dry mixed evergreen forests, abandoned chena lands, grasslands, and wetlands. The open grasslands and old chena lands are dominated by many species of small shrubs.
Dambulla Rock Temple was built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. and is a World Heritage Site. It is also the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples. The complex of five caves, with over 2,000 square metres of painted walls and ceilings, is the largest area of paintings found in the world. It contains over 150 images of the Buddha, of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 metres. Proceed to Kandy.
