Itinerary

Day 1: Nalemuru Gate to Simba Camp
- After an early breakfast in your hotel, you guide will pick you up and start with a three-hour drive to Rongai gate where all formalities will be handled and thereafter start our hike that will first pass through maize and potatoes plantations and then to montane forest. Our climb will be consistent but gentle and will lead us to our first camp which offers a magnificent view of Kenyan plains.

Day 2: Simba Camp to Kikilewa Camp
- On this day, we ascend to the second camp, where lunch will be offered. After that, we will leave the direct path and diverge across the moorland on a smaller trail toward the mawenzi side peak to the kikelewa camp in a sheltered valley. Here we will get dinner and overnight rest.

Day 3: Kikilewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
- Immediately after breakfast, we will face a short but steep climb up grassy slopes, which will offer us magnificent superb all-round views. After that we leave the vegetation behind and head to mawenzi tarn camp which is located in the fantastic cirque directly beneath the towering spires of mawenzi peak. after this short hike we arrive at mawenzi tarn hut camp, where we will spot the mesmerizing undried lake with neither an outlet nor inlet , here we will get lunch and dinner followed by an overnight’s rest.

Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to School Camp
- After breakfast, we cross the lunar desert of the saddle amid Kibo peak and mawenzi peak to Kibo huts at the bottom of Kibo’s crater wall. Rest as much as possible here, and preserve your body energy for the summit.

Day 5: Uhuru Peak to Horombo Camp
- An early wake up around midnight and begin our challenging hike to the highest peak in Africa. The path to Gilman’s point is steep, so the hike will be steady and we will have frequent short breaks. From Gilman’s point we keep traversing around the crater rim heading to uhuru peak. After arriving at the peak pictures will be taken and will descend to horombo camp.

Day 6: Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate
- We will have a long descent trek to Marangu gate, where certificates will be offered, and a car will be waiting to transfer us to Moshi.
